coolant temprature problem

Featured Replies

Hi all new to the site this is my second post can anyone help!! I have a Audi 3.7 A8 Quattro and I had an error code come up on the dashboard PO116 which means replace the coolant temperature sensor which I did a few days ago , the error has come back up has anyone got any ideas what this problem could be.

Many thanks

It probably hasn't got anythnig to do with the sensor itself. Pretty much all modern cars have a CPU at their core which is essentially a computer. Just as your home computer develops faults and generates error codes so can a cars CPU. That's my best guess anyway.

When you replaced the part did you clear the code from the ECU? if not this is stored and may come up again as you have seen. try getting a local garage to code read and clear the fault and see if this rectifies the issue. if not like Glen says sometimes they just throw up errors. My A4 keeps telling me i have lights ect out but when checking they work fine it can be something as simple as a bad wire thats got higher resistance than normal that confuses the ecu into thinking there is an issue.

hope you get this sorted.
