SQ5 V6 Petrol rattle at idle

Featured Replies

I have a 2017 SQ5 V6 petrol with 30k on the clock that has a chattering noise from the engine when at idle.If it was a 70's car I'd say tappets-do they have tappets these days?

It's only audible with the bonnet up and turning off the AC makes no difference.

It's still under an Audi used car warranty but I thought I'd try & pre-arm myself with some ideas before I go to them.

Can someone recommend an indi somewhere near Watford I could go to for advice pls?

Thanks David,

Is this engine running on a chain rather than a belt?
Hope someone comes up with a recommendation for you.
Kind regards,

Gareth.

Suspect then?

There's https://www.vwdoctor.co.uk in Watford so will give them a bell in the morning.

In the end I took it to an Audi specialist in Harrow who said the rattle is normal for VAG petrols,it's the fuel injectors.

Seem like a professional outfit so will be going back there for services etc.
