2009 Audi Q7 TDI Oil filter issue

Featured Replies

Hello, When installing the oil filter in my Q7 TDI, the small "extension" on the filter that drops into the hole in the oil filter housing did not line up correctly and broke off. When I tried to retrieve it, it fell in the other hole and I can not see it anywhere. I tried to use a vacuum to suck it out but no luck. Anyone know which way the oil flows through the housing or where that hole leads to? I'm trying to figure out what my next step should be. Thank you in advance.

I finally got it out with a vacuum, garden hose and straw. I still do not know what went wrong as I have done about 20 of these changes at least. Just incase it happens to someone else, that hole leads to the oil cooler and over to the heads so it is a must do to get it out. I was at the point of rolling the dice hoping it went in the pan but the center hole is where the oil comes up and goes out through the filter.
