My mate has replaced gearboxes, engines etc... he's going to do the cambelt at same time. He's just done a 6 speed conversion on his caddy van.

Hi jasonj,

Yes rebuild is an option, the plan is to split the box to explore the extent of the damage once off. However I've just purchased the vehicle. A driveshaft seal is pouring oil out and i believe it has been driven around in it's current condition for a long time. With the noise it is making I'm not holding out much hope to it being salvageable.

I have not been able to find a NBX box for sale within the UK that isn't priced stupidly, so am looking to other options.

Many thanks,

Hi, only fault code on vcds is the neutral switch. There is no other electrical connection to the gearbox

I can collect a LHX next week. I have read that this box will work but I am unable to back that up with anything solid.

Thanks

I don't believe there is anything wrong with driveshaft. All the noise comes from within the gearbox. There is no play on driveshaft and the CV joint is good. The lack of 5th and 6th gear can not be caused by a driveshaft and I've disconnected the linkages and manually gone through the gears with same results

Sorry not sure what your referring to as a stabiliser rod. History is unknown, vehicle was sold as in working order. Clearly not lol.

I believe it has been driven for a period of time with no oil in the box. I think the gearbox was over filled before sale as I have cleaned more than two liters up off the floor.

There is also signs that the casing has been split previously as there is rtv sticking out around the joint
