2019 A5 - AA pre purchase inspection results

Featured Replies

Hi
im lookiing at purchasing a 2019 A5 2.0 tdi from a garage .
the AA inspection has thrown up some things which i hope you guys can help with (either cost wise or advice wise)
1...os rear suspension strut misaligned , looks to be corroded

2. couple of fault codes popped up on the scanner

3. slight white smoke on idle from cold start (AA thinks it probably ok due to weather etc, and cold start too)

Any advice is much appreciated
ps...I've attached pictures

kind regards

Jacy

Harvey.

1/ I'd be concerned about any part of the suspension being misaligned whether through corrosion or crash damage. Does the car have a recent MOT?

2/ I can't help with the fault codes.

3/ There is bound to be steam from the exhaust in cold weather on start up, and if it disappears once the engine and exhaust are fully warmed up then all well and good.

What does the vendor have to say about the AA report?

Hi Clifford

yes, it has had a recent mot in December , which concerns me, the tyres are at 4mm for 3 of them, and 3mm for one of them. But no advisories in December, and its not been driven since then neither.

I was getting some info before i went back to the vender tbh, so i will discuss findings with him later 🙂

thanks for the reply, much appreciated.

I don't think the tyre depth is that bad considering it's a used car and it wouldn't bother me, just allow for the cost of replacing them. More important for me would be the age of the tyres and if they are a good make and all the same. I always think that if the tyres are all matching and a good make that the owner hasn't scrimped on the servicing.
