Service Intervals and Service Book

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

What are the service intervals for the 2017 A3 8V Petrol?

Also, on the dash it gives you a "service due" and also another "inspection"?

Whats the difference between the two and what are the service intervals?

Also, are all the service records digital, so you dont need a service book, or should these cars come with a service book?

Thanks.

Hello Gerry,

No service book - all records will be digital for services carried out by authorised service agencies. Or receipts.

Service intervals? Either annual if mileage is less than c1K/a, or Longlife which could equate to c18k miles or 18 months.
Are you looking for evidence of previous history, or wanting to know what you have to do from here in?

If you could let us have your anticipated annual mileage, and the current mileage, then we should be able to advise further.

Regards,

Gareth.
p.s. brake fluid change every 2 or 3 years.
Belt/s? Current recommendation is highly questionable in my book.

Hi Gareth,
Thanks for your reply.

I have the service history, which is all up to date, so just wanted to check what to do from here on in.

The oil is still lovely and honey like, despite it being serviced about 3000 miles ago before we got it.

Annual mileage for us would be c. 5000'ish.

What is this "inspection interval" ?

Thanks

Thanks Gerry,

Current mileage and mileages at which it’s been serviced during its 8 years?

Who will you be entrusting the servicing to?

At only 5k/a, if were mine, it would be having it serviced every year, since low mileages can be hard on a vehicle.

We cover about the same miles a year with our A3 - now on 176K, and if it helps, I can outline what I do annually.
“Inspection interval”? Maybe, whoever serviced it last didn’t reset the system-? Maybe due a brake fluid change if this coincides with the car’s anniversary of first registration?

Regards,

Gareth.

I'll probably be looking for an Independent rather than main dealer.

Annually by the looks of it
  • Who will you be entrusting the servicing to?
Looking for a local reputable independant in West Midlands rather than main dealer.
  • Maybe due a brake fluid change if this coincides with the car’s anniversary of first registration?
I have the service history print out, but doesnt detail actual specifics of whats been done.

Any particular reason you are not telling us the current mileage then?
This will dictate the work necessary from here on, so unless you do, you aren’t going to get sensible suggestions for going forward.
Print out not showing work carried out? Usually highly abbreviated but generally there. Just post a photo and we should be able to help.

Sorry I didnt realise you asked, I though you meant how much current mileage we do. Sitting on 51k currently.

Also, I'd welcome recommendations for a local independent in Birmingham and surrounding area.

I need to know what too, but the print out is vague

I don't know where I have put the print out. I think I might have binned it by accident. I need to get to the dealers again and get another printout.
