Anyone replaced/removed Turbo and/or Downpipe on 8v RS3?

Featured Replies

Hi there,

My first post so please do go easy on me 🙂

I am looking to install a hybrid turbo, high flow CAT down pipe, FMIC, TIP and intake on my car sometime in the near future then get a custom tune thereafter.

Not sure whether anyone on the forum has remove their Turbo or DP from the RS3. I have taken a look a many YouTube videos to get an idea of what is required. However, all of these are LHD vehicles and it is my understanding that our RHD cars in UK have a tighter area behind the engine, so I'm not sure whether the same is required or more needs to be done.

For example installing a Downpipe on a LHD car can be done by removing the prop shaft and lowering the subframe, can the same be done on our cars.

Alternatively The turbo can come out form the top of the engine bay and while you are at it, you can pull the downpipe up from above also see this vid for reference - given I want to replace the turbo also, this would be the easiest route for me but again this is on a LDH car.

If on our RHD cars, if in the worst case scenario i will need to drop the subframe completely and remove the prop shaft, so be it, ill manage but it would be great if i could get a heads up on other fellow forum members experience with the route you took.

cheers!
