MMI 3G High stuck on Audi logo after region change

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I have an Audi Q5 2016 with MMI 3G High (unit 8R1 035 746 J, SW 0816).
Originally, it was a Korean version (KR region). I changed the region code in the green menu/adaptation, and after reboot the MMI got stuck on the Audi logo. Now it does not boot into the red menu or normal interface. Sometimes only "No Signal" appears on the screen.

What I tried so far:

  • Hard reset with button combinations (SETUP + RETURN + joystick) → no success, still stuck at logo.
  • SD card firmware update → not possible, system doesn’t enter red/emergency menu.
  • I have VAG CAN Pro (VCP) and also ordered ODIS 11 (Engineering), but I only found the firmware package in ZIP (folders for SD card). I still need the correct .FRF or .SGO file for flashing via VCP/ODIS.

My questions:
1. Which exact firmware .FRF should I use for 8R1 035 746 J (HN+R_EU_AU3G_K0942)?
2. Can I recover the unit only via VCP/ODIS since emergency update menu does not load?
3. Any step-by-step advice from someone who has done KR → EU conversion would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!
