Cam belt cover missing

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have put a deposit on an audi a3 sportback. 2013 1.4. It has done 90k and has had a new belt, pump and clutch with all receipts present. I did however notice that the cam cover is missing so the belt can clearly be seen. Is this a problem or can I just buy a new cover? Im a new driver so not very clued up.

Thanks for any help

Definitely fit a replacement cover to prevent any debris getting tangled up in the mechanism and wrecking the engine. Also get the auxiliary belt renewed if not already changed.
Do you know who fitted this belt, and when and why? Receipts to hand?
How long has the last owner owned it?
Take it it’s being bought from a trader -?
Regards,

Gareth.

It's one previous lady owner from new, currently don't have receipts to hand, collecting in an hour. The car is immaculate for the age so I'm hoping things were done as they were required and for no other reason. Not sure if aux belt has been done but I will investigate that today. Used car buying is such a minefield  🫣

Turns out, I'm a complete noob. It was the auxiliary belt I could see. Not the cam belt.....🤦‍♂️

Fine Carl. So can we take it  you have the receipts for the work done? As mentioned, worth getting the auxiliary belt change as well unless you have a receipt for it being changed.
Regards,

Gareth.
