balance shaft timming to drive gear

hi all im new to hear. I've got my 2.0 fsi bwa in bits with lack of oil pressure..found the pickup blocked with rtv and alloy dust from where the balance shaft drive gear split in half and then chewed the casing a bit.bearings and oil pump survived tho.ive bought a new gear and chain kit but there is no timing marks that are apparent. ie where do the shafts sit when you put the gear on and I presume the crank is at the.
