Hi there, as I said I've never joined an owners club before - so I thought I'd give it a go! I have recently bought an A4 1.9 TDI Sport 130 saloon on a 51 reg. The unusual bit is that I owned the car previously (originally bought it back in 2005) and sold it a year later as I got a job with a company car.

All due respect to these cars (and the chap who I sold it to!) - it goes exactly the same as I remember from 8 years ago and the exterior is in virtually identical condition too. The only difference was the way it stopped - the brakes felt shockingly bad the first time I had to slow down quickly. I googled it and was alarmed by the water in servo stories, the symptoms sounded the same as what I was experiencing.

I just wanted to share the fact that the brakes are now fixed for a total expenditure of £6! The problem was the rubber bung where the servo pipe goes through the bulkhead. It had gone extremely soft and you could actually see the vacuum deforming the bung and restricting the airflow. It was a bit of bugger to fit due to where it is, but the brakes are now performing perfectly without buying an expensive servo.

One of the reasons I joined was to share this info and I really hope it helps people save money. Always check this bung before replacing the servo  :)

Now I've just got to find a mint condition Concert CD player as the last owner replaced it with a fiddly, horrible Kenwood CD player that offends me every time I look at it and fix the glovebox lid that he managed to snap the hinge on. Oh and the temp gauge has a mind of its own nowadays!
