Anti theft alarm issue.

Hi all. Ok, so when my alarm was set off there would be no noise, just the indicators flashing (00134 diagnostic error code) I replaced the H12 alarm horn yesterday with another second hand one (same part no.) but now the alarm doesn't work at all plus the 5amp fuse blew and keeps blowing when I replace. I'm now also getting 2 further diagnostic errors for the interior monitoring sensors (01135) and inclination sensor (00323). Help!

This was going to be my next port of call however I've managed to balls up my locking wheel nut key! So before I try that I have my local garage on the case for a new key (direct from Audi quoted me £39 - £49 for a replacement).

To be honest I'd be tempted to pay the money for a replacement. I'd have thought you'd only be able to get a new key from Audi if your set is OEM anyway?

My local garage couldn't match it so off to Audi I go. I'm assuming they are OEM but will see what they say.

Yep hopefully if they are OEM Audi will be able to provide you with a new key so that you can simply remove them as usual with no messing about.

Bad news, they appear to be aftermarket (Audi couldn't match) and I have no indication of what brand (no documentaction etc) :-( Audi suggested they could be McGard but there is no way of telling. I've ordered a new set from Audi and booked it in with my local garage to have them replaced and the alarm issue sorted next week. Will keep you posted. All this because I was trying to save myself a few quid by doing it myself!

That's just bad luck on the locking wheel nuts unfortunately. Fingers crossed they get them off OK!

Sometimes it goes like that when trying to do a few things yourself but most of the time when everything goes well you can save yourself a packet!  :)

  • 2 weeks later...

So, finally it's all fixed! Old locking wheel nuts off with no damage and new Audi one on.

Turns out the old alarm siren was water damaged (upon closer inspection water was found on the wiring) and the newer siren is 'internally shorted' according to my local garage. Had to order a new siren from Audi but at least it's now all working.

Cheers for the advice!

No worries glad you managed to get it all sorted!  :)
