Multitronic gearbox issue

Featured Replies

Hi, got A4 with multitronic gear box, 94k on the clock, have a fault code 18201 Transmission output speed sensor 2 (G196) Audi dealer says its Gearbox ECU and quote is over 1000 pounds. When saw the code just thought ohh its just sensor, but is it really in the ECU and will cost me that much? looked around few places that do rebuild but can i trust someone just to send of my part, pay the money and then wait to get it back and in working oreder? Smells fishy to send to someone part and money. Thanks for replay in advance:whistling1:

Erik unfortunately the gearbox ECU is a very common fault (among other things) with the multi tronic gearboxes on Audi - so probably is that

Audi gave me a quote for 2k, do you know any other garages that do that kind a work? Found some online but they all want me to post it and they will rebuild but i still need to get it off, not that hard but putting back on.... and can i trust those places on line to send my item - pay them and hope to get it back and fixed, one of them was ecu testing.com

cheers

You could try talking to an Audi specialist in your area and see if they have any recommendations?
