Fuel Pump?

Hi everyone.   First time on an audio forum, I have a audi A6 2.5 tdi quattro, I am looking for help with my car as it drives then cuts out,

it will start again then drives for so long and cuts out. Leave it for an hour or so and yep it starts again and drives for a while then stops, been told its the fuel pump as the code is 00550, been on google all morning

wondering if it could be the ecu on top of the pump, has any member had the same problems? if so could you please give me any advice

I think I once read about someone with a similar issue and it was the injection pump
