Seat Rash

May be not a common problem but I read somewhere that an Audi owner had suffered with a severe rash on his back after purchasing an Audi. I have suffered the same fate. I can't remember where I read the information but the response was generally that the reason could be from the formaldehyde used to manufacture the seats. I have had many new cars and never had this problem. Am I alone?  (Picture withheld for modesty reasons!)

James, thanks for your reply.

Well it doesn't seem to matter what I wear but I am now wearing a waterproof jacket to try and eliminate the seat as the root of the issue.

I can't prove that the seat is the problem but there is another report that an Audi has caused some skin issues although this is far more extreme.

It seems odd that the irritation is only on my back and not on my legs. My car had a lifeshine treatment and I am concerned that this may have caused the problem.

I have now thoroughly shampooed the seat and hopefully removed any potential irritant.

I suspect I will never find out what has caused the problem but the coincidence does seem a but strange.

Just one of those things I suppose.

John

I have just spoken to Audi about the Autoglym product life shine.

There appears to be no other reports of similar problems either from life shine or from Audi.

Shampooing the seat apparently would have no effect.

This may of course all just be a coincidence.
