Audi 80 Cabriolet airbag light

Featured Replies

Hello forum members I wondered if anyone has any suggestions regarding this problem.

Mrs A's 99T 2.8 Cabriolet now has the airbag light on, our garage has read the code and confirmed that the control unit is faulty, i've obtained one from a breakers but it can't be reprogrammed.  Just got off the phone from Audi in Swindon and they'd like £498 to sell me a new one.  Is there a way of working round this and be able to keep a lovely car on the road?

Any help appreciated.

Thanks

Paul

Who have you asked about programming it? Sometimes this can be done with VAGCOM but not sure if your 80 will be too old or not?

James, thanks for your reply, the garage is using VagCom but it can't reprogram it.

Thanks

Paul

That's a sham Paul, well in that case I suppose it's probably a new one or nothing then.

There is of course the option of removing the bulb but you're obviously not fixing the issue - just hiding it. Not really something I'd recommend.
