A6 Avant Quattro buying advice

Featured Replies

Hi folks.  New to the forum and hoping to glean some advice from the experts!  I'm in the market to buy an A6 Avant 3.0 Quattro, 2012/2013 with a budget of about £25k.  I'm looking at couple this weekend, an S Line at a main dealer and a private SE.

Are there any top tips for buying used?  Any major things I should look for (over and above the usual used car things!)?

I'm also a little unsure about spec/trim levels on the different versions.  I believe I'm right in saying that front and rear park sensors are standard - do they all come with a rear view camera?  Similarly is the power trunk an option or standard?  I like my gadgets so anything else I should look out for?

Thanks very much for any tips/info/advice anyone can offer!

My 2012 S-line was on steel springs, my 2015 Avant is on air suspension. If you have the opportunity try air suspension, for me it is far better. Also the 2012 did not have a powered tailgate, the 2015 one has. Not sure when the change over came in. Parking sensors are standard. The rear view camera was a relatively expensive option in 2015, from memory ~£1K.

I prefer the S-line sports seats over the standard SE version, but we are all built differently!

Standard music is good enough, Bose is very slightly better if you can get it.

Not much else I can offer really. My 2015 Avant is a Biturbo, now that is definitely worth having!

TFSI for me all day long, but then again I'm a petrol head! What king of mileage will you be doing?
