New Key Fob

Featured Replies

Hi All, new to this site and also just purchased my first Audi! :) Hoping I can get some clarity regarding getting a new key fob as the car only came with one. Is it something that I can only get from the Audi Dealerships or is there a way of purchasing the ones you see on eBay and having them reprogrammed some how?

Any help would be most appreciated!

p.s I've got a 2009 Audi A4 Avant SLine Executive (B8)

Hi...welcome to the Forum

You can find secondhand fobs on eBay and they will need coding to the vehicle.

Let us know how you get on with it.

Cheers   Trevor

Thank you :) So is the coding something that has to be done by a professional as I've read some articles that list a programming sequence via the car?? Or is it just certain companies that reprogram?

If you're just replacing the internal battery in the Fob then there is a reprogramming procedure you can do yourself but if the secondhand Fob is from another car or a new one that hasn't yet been programmed then you will need to take it to a VAG specialist repairer to programme it into the car.
