Usual things to look out for such as regular maintenance being carried out using quality parts and taking into account where and how it has been driven previously are essential to acquiring a decent used car...but as regards specific Audi problems, best flick through the Forum and take a look at recurring topics.

Thanks will do. Looks like quite a few problems with the auto gearbox might have to look at getting a manual.

Would a worn flywheel cause a loudish rattling noise in an Audi  A6 2007 automatic gear box

@Conner a loud rattling noise in the auto trans could be a broken up torque converter or another internal transmission fault.  Worth checking all driveshaft joints for wear before condemning the transmission though.
