A4 Avant radio reception

Featured Replies

One month in on my 2014 Avant and I've noticed the radio reception is pretty poor. My friends Passat of a similar age is spot on.

Am I right that the aerial is located in the rear of the car somewhere?

Is there a common failing at all?

As I understand it all the radio antennas are in the rear window, have to say though on my A4 B8 I haven't had a problem with radio reception.  With FM and DAB I get good reception, equal or better than any other car I've had anyway, most window antennas also have a amplifier so it might be worth checking that?

The antennas themselves are in the side glass off the estate part.

I'm after the location of the booster as I think this may be an issue.

Still getting really poor reception some days.

I read on another forum that the B8 Avant with factory tints on the rear are poor for radio reception .

It would be nice if there is an option to stuff a standard DAB aerial away somewhere.

Sussed it.

With the ignition off I noticed the radio worked perfectly.

Traced it down to the twin USB charger I had plugged into the 12v Aux socket under the arm rest.

Result!
