Rattling noise from suspension area

Featured Replies

Good afternoon everyone.  Loosing the plot here trying to figure this out.

When traveling at lower speeds on rough uk roads, there is a rattling noise from the front suspension area.  Its not a knock, constant rattle like metal on metal.  As the suspension etc is under tension when on the ground, it definitely sounds like a loose rattle to me. Started off on drivers side, now both and infact probably worse in the passenger side.   Have replaced the dampers and springs as a spring broke, but the noise remained, all the bushing seemed okay as did the top mounts. I can only think that for a constant rattle it would be the 2 x upper arms that join at the suspension mount. These would not be under load there for could rattle, no? Or is this the break pad rattle people talk about?

The sound would be like someone gently knocking a metal bar around your suspension top mount area.  But maybe thats my imagination.

Any pointers would be most appreciated

Cheers guys
