I know this a few years old now but just wanted to say thank you for the heads up on the earth cable. I've owned my 2015 4LB tdi for a couple of months now and it's always been slow to turn over, starts no problem just slow turnover. Was about to order a new battery as didn't want to get caught out during winter when I stumbled across this thread. Just popped out and put a jump lead on the negative jump start tag and the other end onto the body of the Aircon pump and what do you know, spins much faster. Additional earth strap ordered. Can someone explain why members join, post their plea for free advice, then can’t be ‘back sided’ to answer simple questions to aid those trying to help them? Do we really need these inconsiderate people? No, we don’t.

I finally got to speak to the customers service manager at Audi Customers Services Manager ,who had rejected the claim on 2 previous occasions. She admitted that she did not understand the information in the technical bulletin and would consult Cardiff Audi regarding the information I had provided. Pleased to confirm that they have now agreed to cover the full cost of replacement under warranty.

For anyone with the same issue I had to replace the TCM. £1600 for the part alone. You can get refurbished units but heard mixed reviews. On top of that you will need to do a service as the unit is internal to the transmission.
