  1. Nope - heading is totally correct - I'm referring to the 1983 movie, spoiler alert, the dash lights up in the murderous "Christine" 🙂 If you haven't seen it its a good watch... Anyway, I'm on Audiworld and there are a few people having something very similar going on. I think it must be a back feed current, perhaps a failing component or water ingress. My money is on water ingress as the flashing has no pattern and goes brighter then dim. Interestingly yanking the instrument cluster fuse stops the flashing so whatever is causing it is using the power and might be creating leakdown current to the body. I have a plan, I’m going to order a replacement cluster from ebay, bash that in the dash and see if it flashes, I’m assuming the Immobiliser will activate, but I will know if the cluster flashes it’s not the cluster. – I’m making a big assumption here that the cluster will still power the backlight with component protection active.
  2. Wipers designed to be inoperable when the bonnet is open- as with other models? If so, consider investigating the bonnet- closed switch ( in the bonnet latch I guess). Please let us know how you get on. Regards, Gareth.
  3. Genuine OE ones are £1,500 which will we anodised aluminium or stainless steel. Amazon ones are a fraction of that and couple of hundred pounds and will probably look ropey within a year given they are exposed to the elements. It’s not just the boards, it’s the fixing brackets which will have been given a quick powder coat to keep corrosion at bay. Ultimately you get what you pay for. If you can get a set of second hand OE boards, that would probably be the way to go.
  4. Just had a quick scan of previous MOTs, nothing major, and it’s been SORNed or done very little mileage, but it has MOT. Ultimately it’s a very niche market, and B4 shape is the best shape in my opinion, and a great colour combination too. There’s a private seller on Autotrader with a similar car, same age, 2.6 V6 with auto box in what I would describe as okay condition, 95k miles for £8,500, which in my opinion is over-priced. https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202503109974956? Compare that to this immaculate 2001 version, 2.8 V6 on 44k miles in Kingfisher Blue, and it’s worth every penny of £8,500. https://www.carandclassic.com/l/C1931451 Buyers will be looking for an unmolested example, original condition, and no signs of water ingress. On classic cars, they reckon £6k is average price based on recent sales.
  5. I’d be tempted to throw in a new relay, and see if that makes any difference. If you’ve changed the motor and stalk, then that would have been on my suspect list. No idea who is quoting £600. A competent auto-electrical engineer would be able to track down with a multimeter quite quickly, all you’re paying for is their time.
  6. Welcome to the forum you'll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch 🙂 Looks lovely 👍
  7. Martyn I disconnected the battery for an hr as part of the initial repaired/fix but had no joy. However after reading your comment I thought I’d try reconnecting the Cluster which I’d removed 2 days previously ready for sending off for diagnosis/repair, as it’s only a 5 minute job to replace as you know. Anyway long story short Cluster is now back fully working and car fully operational, so well worth the 5 minutes, so cheers for taking the time to reply to my query of your post from 2 years ago Will update post again in 3-6 months and make as solution, unless I need to reply earlier should the fault return.
  8. Apologies for the gripe, but the forum has recently suffered from a spate of what can be termed ‘Post and Run’ new members, who seem to think it’s perfectly acceptable to post a plea for help, and simply not return to view the help given. In a more diluted form, help is offered, but is very rarely acknowledged even via. a simple press of the Like button, leave alone a posted Thank You. The last part of the gripe is that we frequently have to ask for additional information, and this extra detail often never materialises. Please remember, everyone who posts replies do so without payment, but it certainly does cost them in time - in terms of the Moderators and Admin back up - a lot of time. So a special plea to all on here who post needing help:- please be respectful enough to acknowledge any help given, rather than simply accept it as a no-cost, no time of yours, free advice service. It’s wearing thin folks, so if you want to retain this service, please respect and acknowledge its benefits. Thank you all for reading this, and above all, agreeing to adhere to the respect that is needed to be shown. Kind regards, On behalf of the Moderators. Please note:- This request is to all members, not just new ones. p.s. Please avoid using non specific locations such as U.K., England etc. etc.
