  1. Hi folks, Apologies to Tugg and LIzzyfan that I did not come back to this chat before it was closed (I am new to this...) I have not tried the Forte Anti crystals as was not prompted for an ad-blue top-up / refill, and was minimising mileage until replacement parts came through, which took 3 weeks!! I will try the crystals going forward. Like Lizzyfan, I have gone for replacement as l really like the car and anticipate keeping it for a good few years. My replacement was £2,235.50 +VAT so pretty much the same (parts £1,867.00 / labour £368.50) Hope this helps. Cheers all, Dave A.

Making the engine more powerful is not going to protect the clutch. I suggest you research the matter of tuning your engine before making a decision, because more power puts more strain on every part of the engine and transmission, reducing their life expectancy and reliability.
  3. Possibly one of the engine/gearbox mounting rubbers is defective.
  4. Welcome Phil, If this had been mine, I wouldn’t have spent a penny on it until I had had the battery efficiency checked on a professional tester. Do you know how old the battery is? Regards, Gareth.
  5. Nicole. Rizmah has not returned to the forum for two years. You would do well to start your own topic.
  6. So buying a 3 litre petrol Avant was heart over head decision wanting to enjoy this type of car before they become extinct. I thought the 35MPG factory figures were ambitious like of old but without being overly economic in driving attitude I have seen +40MPG. I always use E5 and this pictured run was a mix of A and B roads including dual carriageway sections. I have to admit this is probably as good as it gets but having recently driven a 2.0 A5 B10 petrol and a 2.0 Q5 Diesel the economy of the S5 B10 is pleasantly surprising. If I do have to be in a greater hurry I see MPG drop to mid 20's and when towing the Wobble Box (1.8 tonnes) - high teens to low 20's are the best I can get but then my A6 C7 2.0 diesel was doing only ~24MPG when pulling the caravan.
  7. A further correction to the title for clarity. It is now "Dipped beam fault".
  8. Thank you , it's my first time posting. I will be more aware.
  9. Someone was pulling your leg. You'd be better served by having the car tested by an electrician
  10. Automatic gearboxes have clutches nowadays and one of them, (it will have two,) is possibly slipping. Get it tested on a decent code reader such as VCDS for more insight.
  11. Apologies for the gripe, but the forum has recently suffered from a spate of what can be termed ‘Post and Run’ new members, who seem to think it’s perfectly acceptable to post a plea for help, and simply not return to view the help given. In a more diluted form, help is offered, but is very rarely acknowledged even via. a simple press of the Like button, leave alone a posted Thank You. The last part of the gripe is that we frequently have to ask for additional information, and this extra detail often never materialises. Please remember, everyone who posts replies do so without payment, but it certainly does cost them in time - in terms of the Moderators and Admin back up - a lot of time. So a special plea to all on here who post needing help:- please be respectful enough to acknowledge any help given, rather than simply accept it as a no-cost, no time of yours, free advice service. It’s wearing thin folks, so if you want to retain this service, please respect and acknowledge its benefits. Thank you all for reading this, and above all, agreeing to adhere to the respect that is needed to be shown. Kind regards, On behalf of the Moderators. Please note:- This request is to all members, not just new ones. p.s. Please avoid using non specific locations such as U.K., England etc. etc.
