183K And STILL GOING
Just had the MOT done and it failed on a Nearside Rear Brake Light and passenger side windscreen wiper failure. The wiper ball joint is worn so it comes off, clipped it back on and changed bulb job done. Had advisories for ball joints not excessive and an advisory for rear sub frame. The car has done 17 thousand miles in the last year I've had the Cam Belts Tension and risers done as well as the water Pump fitted at same time. Alternator Belt and Tensioner replaced HT leads and spark plugs replaced. Front exhaust expansion pipe broke and replaced Rear Sub Frame bolt snapped and repaired (Nearly wrote car off when it happened my heart was in my !Removed!) New Battery 8 Tyres 2 on the front and 6 on the back. The passenger window has failed makes a grinding noise when trying to operate via switch, used to fall down but some lolipop sticks sorted that one Passenger wiper not working The handbrake failed one day and it rolled off and hit a wall small scrape down passenger side Someone drove into it in the car park and left it with a broken front offside indicator Intermittent ABS light Front lamp failure warning lights, rear brake light failure warning light are constantly flashing Stills leaks water on passenger side Still a formidable car in my opinion despite its issues.... Happy Motoring All.

Rear Tyres Shredded
Thanks for reply It has been eating rear tyres since I had the car it eats new tyres just as quick as part-worns Tried various makes cheap and expensive usually eats new ones in about 2 - 3 months. I drive steady most of the time usually 55 - 60 mph the only thing that has changed is the guy who had the car before me lowered it by 40 mm and was running 19 inch alloys but due to him suffering from cancer he did not do many miles and when I bought it off him he put the standard 16inch rims back on. The guy at garage suggested changing the springs back to factory ones but also said lowering a car as most people do should not cause such adverse wear. Like I said before I have had it tracked and balanced a few times but not made any difference all the bushes track rod arms and everything is pretty much brand new on the back end. Could it be the Camber? As a friend suggested as I have not had it checked out since having the car.

Rear Tyres Shredded
Anyone know why my Audi shreds and strips my back tyres? Top image is my rear tyre bottom is front. I bought 4 part worn Goodyear Vector Eagles with 5mm tread The guy at garage measured them when we got them and they were 5.4mm this was on the 4th of May I have done 1,854 miles and need to replace the rear ones already this has been ongoing since I have had the car I have had them tracked balanced numerous times and no difference any ideas as to why this happens?

1999 A4 B5 Avant 2.8 V6 30 Valve
Thanks Steve it is in much the same condition as when I bought it 5 years ago mechanically it is sound always work in progress but what can you expect from a car going on strong for nearly 20 years... The purple runs all the way through the car from the bulk head floor pans all the way to the spare wheel so it must have come out of factory like that but the log book says blue. And it is not just Purple though it has a Fleck in the paint I will try and add a picture up it look amazing when its polished next.

1999 A4 B5 Avant 2.8 V6 30 Valve
Here is my machine I float about in and as I live in rural Wales it has a good daily work out. My daily commute to work is a round trip of 34 miles starting on a minor and I mean minor A road combining short and long straights into wide and tight to very tight Lefts for about 4 mile leading onto A Road normal width which breaks out onto the NEW BYE-PASS Until I hit the Main Arterial coast-ing road Had it for 5 years has its moments can be expensive but it is worth it......

Hola
Hola to All Hope everyone is well nice looking Forum tabs and navigation seems clear enough respect to all the Admins and web peeps for the work in putting it together. Been a member of other Forums was an dare I mention Alfa Romeo I had a couple of the 33s with the flat four 16v engine good cars never had any major mechanical quick and handled well and I had an old 155 2.0 8 Valve not so quick but handled lovely was in black with black alloys and then things went downhill and I bought a Transit so I ended up in the Transit Forums enough said I have had my Audi for some 5 years it is the 1999 B5 2.8 V6 30V Quattro Avant cream leather interior and 165K on the Clock no Mods. Not in the best of conditions had a hard life before I had acquired it always a working project just had a Fresh Mot needed 2 Front Gaiters inner and outer 2 rear bushes hand brake on offside rear 4 tyres and a couple of bulbs job done till next year. Have an on going issue with water getting into the passenger side of car I had all the plastic of front battery and battery tray out cleaned the drain hole now thinking the windscreen seal may be gone? I never know how much fuel is in it the gauge flips from empty to half generally sit on empty with the fuel light on dash pinging at me every couple of miles then it pings and tells me there's a fault with a dim front lamp ping ping lol ping washer bottle is empty The stereo has never worked can not see the display totally shot or at least it looks like that. But despite everything wrong what makes it right it when you put that key in dip the clutch foot on brake turner over the engine do your checks give it a minute or two Clutch in select First whoosh your gone the ride is amazingly smooth glides along sometimes at quite an alarming pace even when not being heavy on throttle the steering is pin point accurate accompanied by the Quattro Road Glue. Oh and its in Purple even though it says blue on log book......
