  1. Alright guys here’s an update since it’s been a while now… eventually gave the car to Milta in Bristol (great friendly guys by the way) They confirmed it was a mechanical fault and proceeded to fitting a reconditioned gearbox in my car which was ready within 3 days. Great! Approximately 1-2 weeks later I started my car on one particular morning and the transmission malfunction warning came back on 🤦🏼 I turned the car off and started it again and everything seemed fine so I drove out of my drive and went onto the main road. When it got to a roundabout the car decided to lose all drive and the gearbox malfunction light came back on, it refused to move under its own power. I turned the car off but it refused to turn over this time and it would only turn ignition on (for radio or windows etc not fully started) if the car was in neutral while saying Select N or P. If the car was completely off only then could I move it into drive or park or reverse.. I waited for a friend to quickly come as I was causing traffic and we pushed the car off the roundabout which we nearly killed ourselves doing (so heavy!) and I called up milta who told me to get the car recovered back to them. The following week I called up again and asked how it was doing and this time they confirmed the fault was electrical and that I could come down to collect. 2 weeks down the line and now I am pretty sure it sometimes judders in second and when reversing without pressing the accelerator and only using the brake pedal I can here a clattering sound almost like a dmf sound.. milta are closed until 2nd January now so will give them a call then… starting to wish I had bought a manual now
  2. Spoke to 2 specialists who deal with these gearboxes - JS Garage in Shipley have quoted £1800 for a gearbox rebuild which is surprisingly a very good price Milta in Bristol who one of my friends absolutely swears by is quoting £2800 for a full rebuild, I told him what had happened and he said from what iv told him it sounds like a mechanical issue and will do a full strip down and rebuild but there was a slim chance it may be something else and could be cheaper but from what I told him he reckoned it was the full thing. Decisions decisions 😂
  3. The issue I have is where do I begin with? Do I start by trying to give it a service? Ideally I would want to go to someone who knows their way around this particular gearbox as a lot of specialists try to steer clear of these Zee
  4. I had the gearbox serviced by a specialist almost 30k miles ago and before me it’s been getting done regularly by Audi main dealers. The gearbox gets stuck in second, fourth and sixth it won’t go into any other gears. The engine management light is on and iv got the fault code P284D - Shift Fork ‘A’ Unrequested Movement. Problem is where I live I don’t really know anyone who wants to touch this particular gearbox or who has the proper know how to pin point the problem. A lot of places want to do a full gearbox rebuild and replace the mechatronic unit (tcm) but I believe the issue is purely in the mechatronic and it’s just going to be one of the motors that runs the gears. I know one motor is for first, third and fifth and the other is for second, fourth and sixth. Not sure what to do or where to go now it’s just sat on my driveway. Zee
  5. Right guys I apologise for not replying to this post for so long iv had so much going on and been out of the country for a while. it got to the point where my engine light went off all by itself but the rattle continued. Weird right? The rattle eventually got so bad that the guy was even shacking and vibrating and making the noise even while driving, the mechanic diagnosed it as the flywheel this time. Changed the flywheel and that’s problem solved! Only issue now is that I have another engine light and I have the treaded transmission failure warning on my dash now 🤦🏼
  6. I have a 2015 Audi A6 2.0 TDI 190 Ultra (CNHA engine code). Over a week ago I had the engine management light come on, but with no limp mode. I had started noticing a slight rattling noise when the engine is cold on idle in the morning however once warmed up there was no noise. I had the car diagnosed by my local mechanic and the code was P200200 - Particulate filter, bank 1; malfunction - Intermittent. Now I know this has been covered a few times on various forums however the more I read the more confused I get on what this could be. We reset everything and the engine light went off for 2 days and then came back again, 3 days later the engine light went off and hasn’t come back yet. The car now shakes on idle when cold however again no limp mode or loss of power from what I can feel anyway. My guess after reading what I could regarding this engine code is the EGR valve and cooler need replacing however another forum was saying to replace the MAP sensor first, what is everyone’s thought on this? Zee
  7. Well there is more than one type of automatic gearbox on the C7 A6 from what I have gathered. i had my local Audi specialist service my 2015 A6 Ultra 2.0 TDI 190 S tronic gearbox for £180 all in while another wanted £230. It was only 3.5 litres of oil and no filter and as yours is also a similar setup (both facelift) I would imagine it would have that set up. Hopefully the ones who did the cheaper quote gave you that price as they knew exactly what gearbox you have in there and know it isn’t a huge amount of oil to change.. mine was done within the hour Zee
  8. Apologies.. iv also been trying to deal with an engine light on my 15 plate A6 😂 not having a brilliant time with Audis at the moment
  9. The alternator pulley is starting to make a noise now and after taking a look it seems the belt around it has seen better days too
  10. This is the thing, I did try seeing what happens if I press the clutch up and down as I was trying to pin it down to being the flywheel.. it didn’t make any difference
  11. Recently bought an Audi A4 2.0 TDI 170 Quattro Manual on an 09 plate. The car has done 164k miles so it’s not exactly low however Iv had an issue since, when the car is both cold and warm it shakes on idle. There is no smoke, loss of power or warning lights, in fact it moves quick. However it shakes a little and sometimes feels like a shudder, anyone have any idea what it could be? Thanks Zee
  12. This is interesting I noticed my passenger side mirror doing the same thing! I was wondering what that would be
  13. Hi guys, been scratching my head with this one.. My rear parking sensors haven’t been working for a while now so I thought I’d finally get it done after being lazy. Got my mechanic to check which one and the computer said rear left. I Ordered one from eBay already painted in black for my car and we fitted it today.. It hasn’t made a difference 🙄 We even cleared the faults but still no luck, when I put it in reverse it shows on my media screen that the front is working perfect but the rear has a P and a / sign over it and it gives a 5 second long beep. Anyone and anything can go behind the car and they won’t work at all. Does anyone have any ideas as it’s really annoying me now Thanks Zee Black Audi A6 2015 Ultra (Facelift)
  14. Brake pad light is on, so it’s time to get them changed. Car is a 2015 facelift A6 S line 2.0 front wheel drive. Looking to buy some OE parts but not too sure who makes them, on other forums I came across TRW and ATE, can anyone shed some light on this? Zee
  15. Thanks for the reply Steve, could be, though today started it up, and nothing? Really weird, I will give it some time and see how it goes. Thanks
  16. Has anyone else had this? my C7 2.0 TDI Ultra, whenever sat idle if I don’t drive it and just leave it running, every minute or 2 it does a jerk or one shake.. very noticeable. There is no smoke, no warning lights, and if I drive the car straight after starting it doesn’t do it.. any ideas anyone? It only does it on cold starts, once warmed up it’s absolutely fine.
  17. Thanks for the replies guys! Yeah I figured it definitely did need doing, I knocked the price down from the garage I bought it from because of this. I have a mechanic who does a lot of Mercedes and Audi’s in the taxi company I work for who Iv been using for the past 5 years with my previous Passat. He said he will charge me £140 labour, I am planning on getting the required parts including oil and oil filter from TPS local to me in Milton Keynes and using my taxi badge for some discount. The only other thing is working out whether to service the gearbox again as the filter has never been replaced. End of the day it’s going to be used as a taxi so will be pushed hard on some days. Thanks Zee
  18. Hello everyone, after owning two Volkswagen Passat’s in the past, iv decided to go ahead and move onto an Audi A6, new to the brand but thought it was a safe choice for me as I have already owned VAG vehicles before. The car will be used as a private hire taxi, so Iv gone for a 2015 2.0 TDI S line with the S tronic gearbox. I already have a few questions to ask.. This vehicle was an ex lease 1 owner with full audi history however there is no record of the cambelt ever being done, when is it recommended to change this. Audi serviced the gearbox at 109k miles (she is currently on 112k miles), but I can’t see anywhere about them changing the filter, should I look at getting this done asap? Fingers crossed no regrets so far fallen in love with the car, here’s hoping there are trouble free miles ahead! Below are some quick photos, once I get a chance to scrub her up properly and give it a good polish I will show some better ones
