  1. Thank-you for your assistance. Insurance is always at the back of my mind but overall will be more af an expensive repair because of the claim and as you say, my premium would go up. The metal debris was already in the road (I assume) and was awaiting to be impacted and was more unfortunate on my part. I do not blame the Jaguar driver but if I changed in to the middle lane a few seconds later than I did, it would have been avoided. My dashcam picks up the impact but I can be heard saying a few choice words about other drivers and even worse following the impact so a claim could be borderline. I will look in to getting quotes but will focus on this more over the next week. Not even sure where I would begin to estimate repair costs but I only hope they can sand down that small area and blend the new pain/lacquer with the original paint but definitely not something I would venture myself.
  2. Cheers guys, thanks for your replies. Someone from my local Audi Service Centre had also confirmed that only the fronts light up....but pending on how the model was set-up as he had seen a few S3 / RS3's that the rears lit up. I just do not understand why they would put the strip in the rear speakers but not make it light-up. Is it really that hard or cost-effective to not have lighting elements fitted?
  3. Hi all, hope everyone is well. Think I might be cursed with Audi cars. My recent A3 Sportback that was purchased as an Audi Approved Used car has now had its first minor damage, to the front bumper. Least I made it over 2-months. Just came off a slip road and in to lane 1, I was waiting for slow vehicles in the middle lane to pass and when clear, I moved across and saw a Jaguar XKR (or XK8) ride over something in the road but their tyre picked up the debris and it flung from the rear of the Jaguar in to my car. At the time, the noise was bad and knew it hit me but thought it went underneath and damaged the under tray, but upon an inspection a bit later at work, found the scrapes on my bumper and with this shade of grey, it is noticeable. There is damage underneath the bumper too. Captured this on my dashcam and even managed a screen grab of the item - a thin metal clasp loop. Looking back though, if I was further back it might have gone on the bonnet or even shattered the windscreen. With zero bodywork repair knowledge, I will have to take this to someone to repair but I hope the quotes are not too sickening.
  4. Hi all, Its been 6-weeks and I am still loving the A3 Sportback and I seem to have adjusted well coming from the A6 (C7) and I thing the Sportback is more "me" as I started out in my Ford Hatchbacks (XR3i's, RS Turbo's and Focus ST's), so I feel very much connected with this vehicle and dropping from a 2-litre Diesel to a 1.5 petrol has not bothered me as much as I first thought. This A3 is my first car that has background lighting and I think its so cool but I want to query one aspect and need advice from other members as I have only just noticed today, that the rear Bang and Olufsen speaker surrounds do not light up like the front speakers. They have the same lighting strip as the two fronts but they will not illuminate, not even a little bit. On the MMI system, I have even turned the Background Lighting to full and still the back speakers will not light up. All other lightning aspects work (Cup holders, door handles, floor lighting front/rear) and it seems the rear speakers are the missing link. Even when unlocking the car and opening the Driver door, everything lights up with the exception of these rear speakers. Are the rear speakers meant to light up? Is this something I need my Dealership/ Service Centre to be aware of to fix the issue? Cheers guys. Thank-you.
  5. Hi all, apologies for the delay on the A6 update, been hectic with returning back to work etc.. The A6 has now gone, a few weeks ago (6th July) and was upset to see the car go as it was a great car but I needed to do this, to start saving money. The Assessment went well but it was a scrape on the front bumper, scratch on the N/S wing and various stone chips on the bonnet that fell victim of the cost. A lot cheaper than I was expecting but still. The assessment added to £152.40 (£182.88 with VAT). That was my final Invoice from the Finance Company and its all paid up, so now I can start driving my A3 and start saving some pennies.
  6. Thank-you for the detailed reply..seems like you know a lot about this. I get the good/bad assessor aspect as it was similar with my Driving Instructor, so it will be pot-luck to who will show-up. Your experience has put me a little bit at ease (not the £1300 part), but your description has helped. Settlement for my car is around £17,000 and value is £14,300 so my mindset is that the Finance company will Invoice me over silly things to help make up the difference. I've Voluntary Terminated to save money and now I have the Audi A3 Black Edition, which is a lot cheaper, I am trying to save money and I guess I'm more concerned about the assessment than I should be. I can afford a few hundred but definitely nowhere near the £1000 marker. Car is being assessed and collected this coming Monday. I just want it over with. Thank-you for your kind assistance.
  7. Thank-you for the reply. It has eased my mind a little, cheers. I'm probably worrying over nothing as my mind-set is on the Finance Company Invoicing me for things to make up the £3000 loss etc. Ive never had an assessment before and with this social distancing, I cannot be anywhere near the assessor plus they are allowed to sign the paperwork on my behalf of which I understand because of the COVID thing but not because it will not be my signature.
  8. Hi all, Next week, I have a team coming to inspect and collect my A6 as its being handed back to the Finance Company. I have read the fair Wear/Tear booklet that was provided to me and I know I have the odd few stone chips (nothing major) but the car is in good condition from my own assessment. Looking on all alloys, I have no obvious kerb damage and no scrapes but on one of the front alloys, I have noticed a few light scratches and just wanted someones opinion as to whether this will be picked up and will go against me following the assessment. I have uploaded three photos but photo 02 is a zoomed in image of photo 01. I appreciate your time and assistance. Kind Regards Wesley
  9. I agree, get the battery checked. Had a battery replaced on my late-2016 A6 as the original one gave out after 3 1/2 years but was told the original battery was problematic from the start and was known for giving off incorrect fault codes and computer system faults. Under 3-yrs old the battery is under Warranty, after that, it is classed as a wear and tear item and I had to pay £250 for a replacement by Audi Roadside Assistance as having Audi Extended Warranty does not cover battery replacement.
  10. Not an issue. With my A6, the pop out screen would not display anything despite the car being up and running and driving. Screen would flicker at times. Navigation would be hit and miss to whether it loaded as often it stated no Navigation Medium Installed although the SD card was present. Media files would play and then stop randomly. Playing music through Bluetooth to iPhone wouldn’t always work. Car Bluetooth settings would play about. In almost 4-years, the only issue with the car was the MMI system. Definitely had a mind of its own. I have recently had a new battery fitted to the vehicle and since then, the MMI has worked every time with no glitches. The Audi Roadside Assistance guy advised me the battery fitted on my car originally was known for causing error codes and random computer faults as it was part of a dodgy batch but was still put on to the car in Germany back in 2016. Maybe get a free battery check to see if there are any faults there.
  11. My 2016 A6 had issues with the MMI screen not displaying and would also disconnect from Bluetooth often and randomly and even turn it off. Was a frequent visit to the Audi Service Centre (under Warranty) to investigate but nothing was found, even though I showed the Audi team videos of the system playing up. I believed they removed and reinstalled new MMI software and updates as a new 2016 Maps SD Card had to be replaced and set-up to the car and with the software updates, they also added a function to power fold mirrors when you lock the car with the key fob, which wasn't there before. Even after that, still played up a bit but I do believe the computer software is very glitchy on the A6.
  12. Thanks for the screenshot..that is what I saw in my User Manual too. I think with the *symbol, I guess it means optional. I would have liked the folding mirrors and tilting feature but as long as the mirrors work normally, then I guess its all good. 6-months was a bit of a wait but I can see where the compromise aspect lies but if you are happy, then that is what matters. My first Audi, a late-2014 A4 was built to my spec' but only had the Technology pack. Wasn't sure I could have afforded it, but turns out, I wish I had purchased the Black Edition A4, still a regret of mine. My late-2016 A6 was already built (standard) and unregistered and I am the only one on the log-book. With the A3, it was already built and was purchased used but I am more than happy with the features and the way it looks and drives.
  13. Hey fella, no need for an apology, but thanks. It should be a standard feature on all cars, but looking on my specs, I cannot seem to find the tilt feature stated.
  14. Hey fella, you were clear with your instructions, so thank-you. The procedure is the same as on my A6, so I am doing everything correctly. I just do not think this 'tilt' action is a function on my A3 as no matter which selection of the rotary switch, neither wing mirror will tilt down once the Reverse gear is selected. On my Wing Mirror rotary switch panel, there are only 4 options (Left Mirror, Zero, Right Mirror and Heated Mirrors). There is no function for electronically folding the mirrors like on some other A3's.
  15. Nothing wrong with the wing mirror itself. The rotary controls work fine. On the A6, when reverse is selected, the nearside wing mirror tilts automatically as part of the memory function set-up. Using the rotary switch manually is something I will have to adjust too. Even noticed the heavy steering on the test drive but maybe its because of the 18-inch alloys or sports suspension. I know a few reviews from popular car websites stated the steering issue as a negative factor but still gives the car a great review. But, I am loving the A3 and I do think I have chosen the right car especially if it saves me money each month.
  16. I am new to the A3 section but not on this website as I post a few things in the A6 C7 forums but that car is being handed back to the Finance Company ASAP and instead, I have downgraded to a late-2019 Audi A3. On paper this A3 will be saving me a few hundred notes each month of which is the main reason for the change, plus I do more short journeys now and not ideal for the diesel A6. A3 Sportback 35 TFSI Black Edition S-Tronic (PS). 69-Plate. Quantum Grey and only had 3400 miles on the clock from new. It has the high Tech' pack (Bang & Oulfsen system and Virtual Cockpit). I have only had the car a few days and so far, its an excellent car and very solid with the sports suspension. Only two downsides, in Comfort mode, the steering is still heavy and also, when reversing, the nearside wing mirror does not lower to see the kerb automatically when Reverse gear is selected. Okay, I lose a few luxuries off the existing A6 (leather seats, electric seats and the 750-miles to empty range after filling up), but that is not going to spoil things for me. Many apologies if this is posted in the wrong section of the forums.
  17. Hi Gareth, Its cool, I'll leave them as they are and make more of an effort to move the vehicle more often. Cheers
  18. I guess starting the car makes sense. Its a new battery so will be much more reliable. The tyres were the other issue I was concerned about - flat spots but I will make more effort to move the car more frequently or even let the tyre pressures down. I did ask the Audi Roadside Assistance and they stated to use Mode 1 but I might send the charger back, but seems too much hassle but i'll decide shortly. Cheers
  19. Thank-you for the reply. There are too many battery types now, so I'm just going by what has been replaced. Like for Like (hopefully). Returning the battery charger had crossed my mind but the battery replacement has made me a tad paranoid especially with hardly driving the vehicle during the lockdown and the fact that a battery is NOT covered under Extended Warranty as its now classed as a Wear and Tear item. I guess the charger is probably not needed but many thanks for the reply.
  20. Thank-you for the reply. The original battery was an EFB/EFB+ type so it must have been okay if the Factory fitted it. On the new battery, I managed to take two photos of the labelling on the other side of the battery, which I did my best as the battery is bolted in. The VW/Audi label does state Start-Stop approved (see photos).
  21. Hi Steve, Many apologies for my delay but thank-you for your reply. I will mention this to the Audi Service Centre when the lockdown gets stood-down but I have recently had a battery replaced on my vehicle by Audi Roadside Assistance. I wonder of the fault in the battery would have triggered the Headlights and Hazard lights? The new battery has been fitted a week today and no reports of anything at the moment. I even used to get warnings after starting the car about Start/Stop not working and the Stabilisation system deactivated but when I turn off the car and restart, these warnings disappeared but sine the new battery, nothing has played up.
  22. Hi guys, hope you are all staying safe and well. Last week, I had to call out Audi Roadside Assistance as my car wouldn't start and kept being prompted of Low Battery charge. The Audi Technician jumped the car and it started first-time and left running for 2-minutes before shutting off and doing a battery test. The test failed and stated battery defect (see attached photo). My Audi A6 is only 3 1/2 years old. The Audi Technician did state the original battery was notorious for having issues with a certain batch produced. A new battery was purchased and fitted by the Audi Technician and the BEM code was uploaded to the car. This cost me £256.51. Maybe I could have purchased a cheaper battery elsewhere but I was concerned about the battery having to be coded to the car as this is something I cannot do myself. I have since purchased a Battery Charger (NOCO Genius 5) from Halfords so I can keep charging my battery when the car is not being used during the lockdown. Unfortunately, there are two charging modes stated but the charger manufacturer insisted I contact the battery manufacturer (MLA MOLL) for correct charging procedures. Why cannot things be much more simple like in the days of my Escort RS Turbo where I could easily remove the battery and charge with one mode. Mode 1 - 12V which covers Enhanced Flooded. Mode 2 - 12V LITHIUM which covers batteries with a Battery Management System. I have attached a photo of the charger user guide with the modes explained. The battery fitted to my car is as follows - MLA Moll (Part Number 000 915 105 EE) and is a 12V 93Ah 520A DIN 850A EN / SAE / GS. Battery Type is EFB. Would anyone be able to assist with the best charging mode to use? The battery will remain in the car and I will be using the Jumping/Charging pegs located in the engine bay as stated in the Audi Handbook. Cheers everyone and stay safe.
  23. Hi Everyone, many apologies for not being on the forums at all lately. Within the past 6-weeks, I have been informed (not witnessed myself), that my car, when parked, will randomly have the Hazards lights flashing quickly and the headlights flashing on/off, in a way where it acts like the alarm has been activated. But not once, did anyone mention the alarm sounding. Two incidents were at work and the last was at home 2-days ago, about 2am. I was woken and informed that the lights on my car were going off but there was no sound of an alarm. I then used the Remote to unlock/lock the vehicle and left it. Did not happen again. I think that something is triggering the alarm but not activating the siren. Yesterday, I did a simple test. Sat in the car, opened the Drivers side window and then locked/armed the vehicle with me inside. After 1-minute of sitting still, I waved my arms about and moved and the alarm was trigged and the siren was heard. So I know the siren works, but I have no idea or understanding why my vehicle is having these symptoms. I have seen NO attempt of break-in, vandalism etc.. The vehicle is now over 3-years old (Registered November 2016) and I have Extended Warranty on the vehicle but before I contact Audi, I was enquiring to see if anyone has experienced anything similar and if anyone knows what it is. 2016 Audi A6 (C7), 2.0 TDi Ultra S-Line S-Tronic (190PS). Mileage 34,330 miles. Thank-you.
