  1. Yep, honestly I'm shocked.... excellent reviews and ratings, certainly not what I'd have expected!
  2. Had these checked and can't see any issues, 2 top control arms on each side.... one funnily enough shaped like a banana
  3. Just spoken to garage and it's not the lower control arm that's got the fault it's one of the upper arms, they just noticed its started to "part"? When I changed the discs i smothered everything with grease and was hoping that could have been it but no, they did notice I'd greased the rubbers but also identified this upper (banana) arm on both sides.... 😳.
  4. I've had a look and I can't see anything obvious but that's just me, there are a few parts look like a banana 🤭.... wouldve thought it would have a proper name, find out tomorrow.... wondering if its this as its the only thing I can see which is big enough to warrent the cost?
  5. Cheers Gareth, will definatly get a 2nd opinion. I was quite shocked when they told me both needed changing. Car only has 35k miles so is certainly no high mileage, seller told me he had never had it offroad but suppose I can only take him at his word for that... 🤔 Wouldn't care, I changed the front discs and pads as they were in a poor state presumably due to lack of use? While inside the wheel arch I thought everything looked like new, no signs of any rough use underneath and the side running boards etc have no marks on the underside.
  6. Says on the report both front banana bushings, I'm presuming it's just a pair of arms on the suspension struts but google doesn't return anything when looking for banana bushings This looks a bit like a banana 🤔, gonna give them a call tomorrow as £260 for both parts is way off their quoted £800 for the work? Unless genuine audi part is £300+ each for parts. This is the most expensive on autodoc site
  7. Just been for a service 2016 3ltr tdi and the mechanic has highlighted both front banana arm bushings have started to part and should be replaced soon? Anyone done this job, I've searched online for banana bushings and nothing comes up. Presume it's called something else but can't identify which part it would be? Just to give me an idea of cost if i tackle it. Been quoted just shy of £800 for genuine parts fitted?
  8. Couldn't agree more Gareth, the cheaper quoted ones seem to cover the things that probably won't fail. My concern is the mmi as it seems to do pretty much everything incl air suspension and drive mode select? Some only cover up to £500 towards which I can imagine won't cover much of the repair/replacement cost. Would have thought if these q7s were as unreliable and costly as the scarey stories portray them to be I would have already had replies of horror stories and advice to get covered asap. Most expensive warrenty does seem to cover everything but again, how easy will they payout if the worst were to happen. Was hoping for some good or bad experiences from forum members 🤞🤣
  9. Hi Gareth, that's the hope, was hoping majority of q7 owners have had little or no bother. But as you say it's an expensive mistake if the exclusions don't cover the Important things. But also could be an expensive mistake not getting the right cover... if the right cover exists? Depends which reviews you read whether they've paid out or just found an excuse not to 😱
  10. Just bought a q7 2016 3ltr tdi sline with 34k miles. Has a few nice additional factory extras and we'll impressed so far 👍 Just getting a feel for these cars as I know they cost a fortune if the major failures crop up. Little things which i hope are all I get I can live with paying for. Was looking to get an aftermarket extended warrenty but these cost thousands for a few years, makes the car so much more expensive to own and do we really need them? Know its a gamble but majority of people who take the warrenty mustn't use them or the companies would be out if buisness. Seems like more and more of these are appearing so must be a lucrative insurance and is it really worth paying £2.5k for something you might use to cover a £500 repair. We are good at commenting on failures and costs but how many have owned these cars with only minor issues? Whos q7 has cost more than £2.5 in a single repair. Just interesting to know
  11. Hello everyone, just bought myself a 2016 q7 sline 3ltr tdi. Extremely impressed so far with how smooth it drives and the build quality, inside and out. Its In for a major service next Saturday and I've just changed the front discs and pads for a new set of brembos, so it will be as new with only 35k miles...🤞 Curious to how everyone's q7 has behaved as mine has a few extras that I can imagine if they go wrong will end up costing quite a bit to repair/replace. Was going to get an extended warrenty but really undecided on cost to value and likelihood of failure costing the almost £2500 quoted for 3 years? Better saving it and just paying for the small fixes I hope? Has anyone had the warrenty and not used it or has it been a valuable benefit. I've read stories that certain companies wouldn't pay out. The q7 overall is reliable or so I have been reading, although major engine, air suspension failure etc i can imagine will be a fortune but a rare occurance.... i hope? Cheers for any pointers Paul
