  1. If you wanted to keep the Audi’s reg and identity, it would be classified as *significant* changes to the suspension, running gear, powertrain etc which would mean an engineer’s report and IVA according to memory. However, it is perfectly legal to alter the body around as you wish so using the identity from the Isuzu would be less onerous. Not pain free, but less pain than the other way round. The rules about major components are what you need to read as well. Points for various bits and you need to score enough to avoid a Q plate. Finding a 2.8 diesel Trooper that hasn’t disintegrated into microscopic flakes of rust is also going to be a mission. I went through similar converting a Land Rover from a 2.25 petrol to 5.9 Cummins 6BT diesel. Having a friendly MOT guy to advise on various aspects was very helpful. And no, I wouldn’t do it again 😀 But good luck if you go for it.
  2. I’ve had the 1.9pd 130 in a Skoda Superb mk1, 2005. The 6 speed would not fit that 100%. I *think* the Superb Mk1 was the B5.5 platform, not the B6. The engine in mine was north/south, not transverse. Not sure if that helps you much, but as Steve noted, the PD130 has been in so many cars, there must be a 5 speed box in a breakers yard somewhere.
  3. Yes, it is the S-Line. So possibly a eureka moment here. If it was standard, it might have been disabled, presumably for security reasons. i have been looking into whether the advanced key goes to sleep (stops transmitting) when stationary, like a few others such as newer BMW keys. It’s aimed at stopping relay theft with those boxes the crooks use. If the Audi key doesn’t do this the previous owner might have disabled keyless entry to combat relay theft, in which case, re-enabling it might not be a good idea. I did find an article on Google that says about leaving the smart bit of the key in the car and using the physical key blade in the driver’s door to disable keyless entry. Nothing about re-enabling it though unless it’s just a repeat of the same process. Might give it a try later on.
  4. I scanned it with VCDS last night and there is nothing obvious to indicate keyless entry is fitted. I would expect a module in the list when scanning for fault codes. It lists everything fitted in that output, which is extensive but unless it’s buried in another controller (like the body control module) I’m not seeing it. Will ask for the build sheet from the dealer, that should be definitive. What is making me curious is, on a previous car I had with keyless fitted (Range Rover) there was an option to disable the keyless entry part while retaining keyless start. I’ve no idea why one might want to disable it but the option was there.
  5. Yes, it has keyless start with the advanced key (if Google images are to be trusted), and looking at the door handles one might reasonably guess it should be keyless entry as well, but it seems not. Probably better for security this way.
  6. I think that might be the case for mine. Rectangles on the handles but no way of turning it on that I can find. The MyAudi app is wanting a 10 digit code which I don’t have yet. Anyway, just back from a week in Spain so I’ll get back on it tomorrow. Have to say the A6 is a vastly superior drive to the rental I had in Spain. Horrid MG thing, so glad to be back in the Audi, just not keen on the weather we came back to.
  7. Thanks Gareth. Already doing that. The chap I buy my cars from, and have done for 24 years, has requested this for me. He is at SEAT Birmingham, so in the VAG group, got me this car. I recall the Skoda had a label in the boot with lots of 3 digit codes but no luck finding one in the A6 so far. But, while looking in the boot I did find what looks like a subwoofer, at least that’s what googling the part number says, and it seems to point to premium audio. Result! As you might be able to tell, I absolutely love this car 😁
  8. Afternoon all, Is there any way of telling if keyless entry is fitted and just disabled please? The door handles seem to indicate that it should be fitted, but this is my first Audi so perhaps the handle is standard. Thanks in advance. Very excited even 1 day into having the car, now trying to find out what options it has. So nice to drive as well, smooth and torquey. Even the wife approves, high praise indeed for a Jag and Merc girl. She says it’s light years ahead of my old Superb mk2 estate, which is a very similar platform. I have to agree. Merry Christmas all. Dom.
  9. Thank you, and likewise. Hope it’s a lovely time for all.
  10. Yes, supposedly reputable brand but obviously a fake. I’ve had quite a bit of similar fake electronics stuff, but that’s not really dangerous, just irritating.
  11. Great info, many thanks Gareth. Opie or whomever, DIY is way cheaper than even the kwik style places. Quality oil and filter is usually 60 odd quid delivered, and I know it’s done properly. Put that against the cost of possible engine damage and it pales into pocket change territory. Brakes, after a bad experience some years ago, with a main dealer I might add, I only trust myself to ensure they are done properly. Having a pad fall out while reverse parking is unnerving to say the least. I’m the same with brake fluid changes, always do this every year. And tyres, nothing but premium brands and changed at 3mm of tread. The wife says I have OCD, probably right too. But these cars carry my family, the most precious cargo of all. Would I trust this to an underpaid dealership mechanic? Possibly a trainee? Erm, no ta. Will try the vendors you mention. I also have my wife’s car to maintain so appreciate the heads up on those guys. As for eBay, I’ve had an oil filter which was suspiciously light. Enough for me to cut it open, and I found it had no filtering gauze etc inside. Basically hollow. So I figured it best to steer clear.
  12. Appreciate the tip. I recall the Quantum having used it in my Superb 1.9 TDI. That was on 438k miles when I sold it. Only ever had a clutch and a camshaft in all those miles. Pretty indestructible. I tend to buy from Opie Oils, decent prices and quality products. No connection other than being a satisfied customer. As for finding reliable eBay sellers, how do you do that? I’ve not had great experiences with the bay. So many counterfeit parts on there. I tend to stick to the main dealer parts department to be sure, but they can be expensive.
  13. Thanks. I liked it the minute I drove it. I know very little about Audi engine ranges except that it’s a 3 litre diesel as opposed to the Skoda being a 2 litre one. It certainly felt a lot smoother and definitely more eager when pulling away. For maintenance I used the best oil and change it every 6 months max. Never more than 6k miles but I use VCDS and whenever it moves from good oil condition to anything less, I change it.
  14. Oh, and this is what it will replace.
  15. HI All, About to become the owner of a 2021 A6 Avant. Rather excited to say the least. Collect it next tuesday, which seems like years away right now. I come from the Skoda fold having been the owner of a few Superbs, and I just changed from a Superb estate to this A6 Avant. Tried both this and a Superb of the same year and the decision was quite easy. The allure of the bigger engine and being quite a bit more plush inside was what sold me. Hoping for good things now. Already a VCDS owner as I do a lot of maintenance myself, among restoring older cars. Just get the dealer to do enough to stamp the book basically. In between I do all the rest in my workshop, including interim oil changes, brakes etc. It's how I took one of my Superbs to over 400k miles without too much drama. Looking forward to all the information I can pick up here, and hopefully see some of you at the various pub meets. Best. Dom.
