  1. 2012, A3, 1.4 tfsi 8v. Only On initial cold start, 9 times out of 10, my car makes an odd whine/ whirring sound immediately following the engine firing this last for a second only( sods law it didn’t do it as I prepared to record it this morning) possibly the starter running on after the engine has fired? This does not occur on subsequent starts after initial cold start, even imefialty after switching the engine off and starting it for a second time. Also, when this occurs the engine revs are at 1200rpm! if an attempt is made to drive in this state, there is hesitation in acceleration and a slight turbo whine can be heard. This lasts for around a minute before revs drop to their usual 750rpm. The Car runs fine at this point. If the engine is immediately switched off and restarted after the initial cold start issue, revs are at 750ish and the car performs normally. Unsure if the two issues are connected? Obviously, there is some kind of cold start system which I think should elevate the rpm on a cold engine!? but as said, when the idle is at 1200 rpm progress is poor. any ideas fellas? P
  2. This is terrible! Has the issue been sorted?
  3. That’s good! Does it support activation of features … alarm bleep on off etc?
  4. Is that true? Used to be that cars came with a harness with all plugs regardless if they were used or not. When did this change? I’m not doubting this is now the case and I suppose it makes economic sense just not the way it was !?
  5. Did you do them?
  6. I would agree with above. To me this sounds more like a “vibration” than a rattle. I can see in the video people looking into the open engine bay, did you inspect underneath the car for loose under trays/shields etc? Just an idea for for further checks😉
  7. Watching with interest. how do you find the launch CRP123E code reader ?
  8. Well done what man😎
  9. Yes it’s a great colour. It was my first choice when I was looking for an 8p many years ago. Couldn’t find the right one and ended up with larva grey … which was my third choice but grew to love it 😂 nice car there rybrook… future classic for sure.
  10. Watching with interest, thanks for posting. im about ti replace front dampers, top mounts and anti roll bar links on my A3. the top mounts are getting a bit creaky. Dampers look to be originals and with the car past 100k miles replacing them can’t do any harm I suppose.
  11. Moderator please swap this to 8v section. thanks in advance

Just realised I posted this in the 8p forum. Can a moderator swap this to the 8v section please ? thanks
  13. Yes that’s true. There’s quite a few VAG repair specialist and breakers in the NW. it’s while since I’ve bought anything from a breakers but it’s always handy knowing their whereabouts. (Not that the OP has mentioned breakers specifically)
  14. Re the rear brakes, have you noticed excessive brake dust build up on either/both rear wheels? This can be an indication of a binding caliper. maybe raise the rear wheels and see if the wheel/wheels rotate freely without too much binding. if the caliper is binding badly you will notice the brake disc becoming hot after a run.
  15. I’m in Manchester what’s the name of the company? It’s always handy knowing local Audi parts suppliers

it was notchy with the need to sometimes try a couple of times to get first and third to select… and now it isn’t. What exactly can be investigated 🤔😂I’m not about to start pulling things apart when everything is working as it should 😉

    Oh for sure , yes.
  18. Can we have a picture of the full car please? I love satin bronze on a black car. It’s what would i would choose (if I didn’t care) but wouldn’t want the attention it might bring to my car ☺️
  19. Don’t need to. I can open the glove box and put pressure on the open lid at the side and it stops. pretty sure the noise comes from the “hinge” or what ever the lid swivels on at the rear. but everything appears to be covered by trim. Just searched and theres a YouTube video showing how to remove the glovebox lid which looks a bit of a gaff. Was hoping somebody might have an easy fix.
  20. Gone from none existent when I got the car 6 months ago to mind blowingly annoying now. I think I’ve traced the noise to the right hand side of the glove box possibly where the box hinges at the rear !? I’d like to try and get some lube to it but everything appears to be covered by trim. Any ideas other A3 or Audi owners experienced this ? I’ll put up a video clip later
  21. Nice’ how much is it lowered and how does it ride on the new springs?
  22. Gearbox in my A3 had been notchey since purchase. Dawned on me today this is no longer the case. I may still carry out a gear oil change. Shouldn’t temp fate but I do like a free fix 🤔😁
  23. Heres how I did mine on my previous car. The sensor was just over a tenner on eBay. You’ll need to scroll about halfway down the page when it opens. https://www.detailingworld.co.uk/threads/project-audi.348112/page-9
  24. This is something Ive been looking at doing. Also the chrome window surrounds. wrapping looks a bit of a pain for a beginner like myself so I’m looking at plasti coat.
