Hi You need to look at the Red Engineering Menu which will give you more details on the version. There is a website MIB Helper which I used to update my firmware. I would only recommend you do it if you have an issue with the MMI. I had a number of problems (bluetooth connectivity, carplay taking ages to load and a few other) and the update resolved it.
  2. If you lie down behind the front wheels and look under the car you can see the wishbone bushing. If you feel around it top and bottom of them you will feel the kidney shaped holes. Stuff them with grease! My view in this is that exposed grease attracts dirt and it can work its way into the holes and potentially increase wear, but what do I know? My wife is now happy there is no squeak which is what counts!
  3. Great news. I hate to say it but i had a close look at mine at the weekend and the kidney holes mentioned in the TSB are easily accessible. I filled them with lithium grease and squeak cured. Whilst Audi are expensive, they are worth it at times. I even find some parts are comparable and for a few quid more, Id use genuine.
  4. Great. I'll be doing ours in a few weeks and now can be confident it should work.
  5. Hi We had fault code P177C which pointed to the clutchpack with clutch 1 out of tolerance. Car is a 69 plate 1.5 TFSI. Not sure if the 1.6 TDI has the same gearbox. Symptoms were juddering when driving slow, loss of drive once in 18 months and slightly jerky gear changes which gradually got worse. We had the clutch pack changed and it now drives like new. I'd suggest a proper diagnostic which will probably be more specific.
  6. Hi - We have the same issue although I have not done anything about it. I plan to grease the lower wishbone bushes without taking them out as a starter which I think someone has done on this forum as an interim. Here is a possible solution https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2023/MC-10236377-0001.pdf. Good luck
  7. Hi - You need something like VCDS or OBD Eleven to activate it in the MMI adaptations to get it to appear on the MMI screen.
  8. I guess it depends on what you use it for. VCDS cost me over £200 but I do all my own servicing and have a few VAG group cars so it’s been worth it. Good info on the DIY fix BTW. Appreciate the legalities of DRL’s and I’ve been driving for a year with them off and not had my collar felt. This is what it looks like on my car after I activated it on the menu. Easy to switch them back on.
  9. Gerry's asked 2 questions: 1. Is there a way to disable the DRL's - my answer yes. 2. What is the options regarding a fix which Steve has offered a solution. If you look at many Audi's on the road now which are around 16/17 plate, the LEDs are beginning to yellow. I've put the option to turn them off in my MMI to hopefully give them more life. Leave the light switch on Auto and they come on when the car is in low light.
  10. Yes you can code the MMI which give you the option to have DRL disabled. At MOT time you can reactivate through the MMI. You'll need something like VCDS or OBD11 to do it.
  11. Hi. The speed of the car is calculated using an average of the ABS sensors on each wheel. If the ECU is expecting a certain value for one wheel rotation and sees a different value to that for a bigger wheel, I’d say it would throw up an ESC fault. That would take in ABS fault, TPMS anti skid etc. You probably need to have a diagnostic on the car to program the ECU it for the new wheel size.
  12. Hello All We had a diesel Merc and the same issues with the power. Turned out the DPF was full of ash. Apparently the soot burns off and what is left is ash which does not all escape and clogs the DPF. It did this at about 100K miles. I cleaned it out and the power problem was solved. It does sound like the clutch pack is on its way out with the slipping or the mechatronics unit is at fault. We had the same clutch fault on our A3 although that is a dry clutch pack. We'd very occasionally lose drive or it was very jerky at low speeds but never slipped. We ran it for another year about 10k and then had it changed. Odd though as we saw it out and it had a fair amount of life in it yet. The mechanic advised that Audi sets the limits and are very generous with them to flag a fault. You can measure the clutch using VCDS. A long shot but have you looked at the 4 wheel drive system and the Haldex unit? That has a set of clutch plates in it. I would expect a fault to come up if there was an issue though. May be worth a specialist looking at the codes as mentioned above. Good luck.
  13. That looks like your display is in efficiency mode and that is showing how much fuel your aircon is using in litres per hour.
  14. Hi. I don’t believe the Quattro system is always engaged and I never know when it is engaged. The Haldex system engages when it detects slip (wheel spin). It should be seamless and unnoticeable. You may already know all this. There are a set of plates in the haldex unit which are the clutch system. They can wear out and can be replaced. They may need replacing?
  15. I have an 18 plate, stolen recovered, S3 and it’s brilliant. It did have full audi S/H and I did all the checks mentioned in posts above before I got it. I get 40-42mpg, 45 a few times on a good warm day, cruising on the motorway at 70 in economy mode (dull but economical). If I cruise at 80, it drops to 35-38. Winter it’s around 4mpg less. Round town I use auto mode and it’s low 30’s. I use cruise a lot, even round town as I find the gearbox keeps the low gear. I’ve done 20k and it it’s not missed a beat. Gearbox, haldex are important to get done on time and oil I change at 8k. I am surprised at how much I enjoy it, on the open road in the country it’s great fun and unbelievably quick. Not sure on the engine differences with the facelift between the 15 and 18 plates, but that’s what get on mine.
  16. Hi Bob Great idea. Have you tried asking google? I find lots of useful info there. On the panel on lower section on each side are narrow slots to fit a radio removal tool. I've just looked at my A3 and they are there. Found this link on google which may help
  17. Hello All I'm After some advice or what experience people have had with the dry dual clutch please. Done a service on our 19 plate A3 1.5 TFSI with 84000 on the clock and as a routine I look at faults using VCDS. Clutch pack 1 has come up as out of tolerance. It did flag up in August last year at 79000 miles. The latest fault is recent as I checked in April and it was not there. Car does judder intermittently in reverse, low gears and more so when hot. I was going to change the gearbox and mechatronics oil to see if it made a difference but stopped when I saw the fault again (I am aware this is filled for life but oil on the whole does not last indefinitely). On the whole car drives lovely and gear changes are hardly noticeable, except for the intermittent judder. Not wanting to be faced with a complete failure I can either change the clutch pack now (£2000 plus) or run with it for a while until the fault comes back and judder gets worse. Anyone had experience on this and outside of what I have had, any other warnings of impending failure? Thanks in advance
  18. Hi - Thanks I have VCDS which is how I know there is a fault but it does not answer my original question, which side is No. 2? The connectors look brittle and I don't want to break into a serviceable system.
  19. Thanks, will do. Still need to know which is which as I don’t want to break into a serviceable system.
  20. Hi Thanks. The fin is GPS. I can see the GSM modules left and right however the connectors are flimsy so chances are I will damage them if I touch them.
  21. Hello All I have an 18 plate S3 sportback with a fault GSM antenna 2 open circuit. The modules are in the rear bumper, one on each side. Does anyone know which is no 2 please? Thanks in advance.
  22. Hi Ray I’m in a similar boat although I’ve not remapped my engine. Audi said the same on both cambelt and gearbox and I’ve had a local garage say the same on the gearbox. I’m going to change the belt at the 100000 mark. Having remaped the car would probably mean you reconsider the service Intervals. I’m finding it’s an expensive car to run. Cambelt is not a DIY job due to specialist tooling and my clutch pack is on the way out at 80000. Over £2500 to replace at a local specialist. Still it’s a lovely car to drive.
  23. Yes, I was slow in both cars and no noise. The VW is a polo but that is an electric hydraulic pump so is a different system to the S3/A3. I'm out in the S3 tomorrow so can check when its cold, but I've never noticed anything and I usually notice anything untoward.
  24. Hi - We also have an 2019 A3. I've just checked both cars and no noise comes on full lock steering at slow speed. Apologies as it looks like the steering is an electro mechanical one, so no hydraulics with bypass involved. Some cars have an hydraulic electric pump which make the humming noise. I'll get back in my box.
  25. On full lock it will need a bypass system and the humming noise may well be the bypass in operation. Our VW has an electric PS pump and it does make a noise on full lock.
