P177C transmission limit

I’m getting this code coming up on my 2016 A3 S-Line 1.6 TDI and wondered if there’s anything I can do, or is it a proper diagnostic job at the garage?

Hi

We had fault code P177C which pointed to the clutchpack with clutch 1 out of tolerance. Car is a 69 plate 1.5 TFSI. Not sure if the 1.6 TDI has the same gearbox. Symptoms were juddering when driving slow, loss of drive once in 18 months and slightly jerky gear changes which gradually got worse. We had the clutch pack changed and it now drives like new. I'd suggest a proper diagnostic which will probably be more specific.

Cheers for the advice. I think the only way is to get checked properly. It's fine through the low gears, but if I give it some gas, it revs without any acceleration. It's only very subtle and usually between 6th and 7th gear.

This has been going on for a couple of years now. Wouldn't it normally get worse over time?

Not sure if this is normal over time, but when I was changing the oil at the weekend, I took a photo of the bottom of the gearbox and mechatronic and noticed that it looks like it may have leaked at some point.

Finally got the car in for diagnostics and this is what I got back - Work Carried Out Confirmed fault, connected battery charger and ran GFF, confirmed fault P177C00,

checked TPI's and found 2058137/8 which matches, removing of dual clutch is required

to reset clutch pack as described in TPI, parts required listed on TPI, NOTE dual clutch

should not require replacing however if damage is found once out it may be required.

See TPI 2058137/8, NOTE - clutch will require removing
