Automatic gearbox jolting
To me as it was due a gearbox service and there’s a slight leak, it was worth trying the cheaper options, so I don’t spend triple the amount to potentially find out it was just low on oil. Now I know that low oil wasn’t an issue I can confidently know that there’s an actual issue and spend the diag fees at either a vag or gearbox specialist to find the actual problem

I didn’t mention the issue as the car was due a gearbox service, as well as that I know there was a slight leak, so as I have had the car about 9 months, I put two and two together and decided that the best action was to get the service done and see if low oil was the reason for the issue. To which I now know wasn’t the issue. I understand that now i have to pay a diagnostic fee but it was worth trying the cheaper options first.

I’ve never said I’m not prepared to pay the bill. I’d pay the bill to find the issue. It’s more about being smart with money and not throwing it down the drain. there’s an almighty difference between spending £250 on a gearbox service and spending £190 an hour for however long until they can diagnose the issue. with that being said, the thread has gone off course. The reason I take it to one place or why I’ve taken it to Audi for one thing but not the other isn’t really the point of this thread. End of day, if you don’t have any ideas about possible issues or ways to repair it. There’s really no need to comment.

For multiple reasons 1- it’s closer than the specialist to both my house and work 2- I was a reasonable price as I’m not messing around with the procedure of changing the gearbox fluid myself. 3- they do a health check on the vehicle and tell me any obvious faults so I don’t need to find time or sort a lift or pit out to properly check 4- as my car has pretty much full Audi service history and I might have misplaced the history, I got them to print out the history again for me

As the car is a 64 plate (2014/15) it’s not covered under any sort of warranty. And the Audi near me is charging £190 an hour. I don’t refuse to pay for labour. I refuse to pay £190 an hour for labour when the specialist would do just as good of a job for about £100-£140 an hour (haven’t spoken to them yet to be certain of their hourly charge)

I didn’t mention the issue as unless I need to I refuse to pay the labour that Audi charges and generally try and do the work myself. Although I have a Audi specialist near me that I’m planning on booking in to get diagnosed The clunking between 2nd and 1st only happens when the gearbox is completely up to temp and as I only live about 5 miles away, it wasn’t warm enough for it to happen. The stalling out also didn’t happen as that will only happen when the cars been sat overnight.

Automatic gearbox jolting
So had the gearbox oil change done at Audi on Monday, it’s now Thursday and nothing has changed. It still lurches between 2nd and 1st and I have to leave it idling for about 10 mins in the morning or the engine will occasionally stall. I’m guessing these two are related the engine runs smooth. And once it moves it doesn’t try an stall again

Automatic gearbox jolting
So I have a 2014/15 a6 c7.5 with the 7speed automatic gearbox. The issue I’m having is the car lurches forward and has a slight clunk when it shifts from 2nd to 1st. shifting both up and down in every other gear, including 1st to 2nd is completely faultless. Cant even feel the gear change most of the time. now I have a slight feeling that it slightly low on oil as there’s a slight leak. So have already booked in for a gearbox oil change. that being said, I’d like to know if I’m missing anything or there’s any common issues thanks in advance

Knocking whilst turning and other
Found the issue eventually. So either I was an idiot and didn’t tighten up the lower arms enough or it loosened itself whilst driving. Not really sure, nevertheless that was the source of the knocking. I appreciate everyone’s help and suggestions. thank you.

I’ll have a gander tomorrow. And let you know what I find.

I’ve not thought about doing that. I’ll have a check tomorrow and let you know.

Sorry just read my previous replies and can see the confusion. I can hear the noise when: — the car is stationary and turning from lock to lock - the car is moving of from stationary. it knocks as soon as it starts to move - when going around some corners. Not all corners though. it doesn’t happen when going over bumps or from what I can tell, when braking
