  1. One thing I did read about - when you test a circa 2004 car, put it in neutral and try to hold 2k revs, if it bounces around it may need a ECU update, its a known fault with the 3.2s.
  2. Not sure if this is related but I have read about similar aged VW having similar problems that VW fixed with a ECU update?
  3. I'm no expert but I have a 2004 3.2, v6 8P1, bought it earlier in the year, I looked at similar priced S3s but they had all been hammered. For that kind of money your probably looking at an 80k mileage car, I have one and I love it. in terms of basics, check the previous MOT and made sure the very few issues had been resolved, secondly it hadn't had its major service which was due at 80k (Audi wanted £500, Local garage wanted £370 - it depends who you prefer) but that got me some money off and could be the reason someone is selling at this kind of age. These have timing chains not belts, but they can go and its from this kind of mileage it can happen, I'm not an expert but bear it in mind. Check for leakage on in the suspension, mine has started to go. This is basic and may be stuff you already know - but finally, the battery is under the boot and needs tools to access it, make sure they come with the car!

Hello all, I've had my 2004 A2, 8P13.2 v6 for nearly a year now and I still love it (81k on the clock), I'm barely an amateur DIY in terms of mechanicals but I have an issue with the car that I'd like peoples thoughts on before I take it to a garage - just in terms of checks, maintenance I can do before I call the professionals in. It boils down to a slightly uneven power delivery, its barely noticeable but most apparent at around 3k revs, when in 4th gear - If I hold the power steady there is a very gentle but rhythmic blip from the engine, passengers don't notice it but I can sense it everytime Does anyone have similar experience of this? Its not long since its major service so I would like to get a better understanding if anyone can shed some light? Thanks in advance.

Thanks Trevor, and thanks for the link Any advice on brands to look out for or avoid? like I say i dont necessarily want to lower the car as such, I'm liking the stance as is but if it has to drop slightly then so be it. I'm hoping the track the car (very) occassionally so I need something predominantly for road - would OEM be a bad choice for track? Any recomendations on road bias with a touch of track - suspension setups?
  6. I have a 2004 v6 quattro sport, the Audi rear shocks are leaking, my local garage have quoted £225 for OEM parts, fitted. It has got me thinking about upgrading to coilovers though, the current rideheight is fine as is but going a little lower would not be a problem. I guess i'm looking for somthing that is an improvment on OEM, is proven quality but isnt going to cost the earth? Any advice, even just on brands to look out for/avoid would be useful. Is there any means of knowing if a particular set would fit my car?
  7. Hi everyone, I've noticed a bit of a rattle when accelerating from low revs. it disappears when revs increase and I can only hear it when the window is down (but it is noticeable). The rattle isn't there when I'm in neutral - its only when accelerating. I'm no mechanic but I would guess its exhaust. has anyone had anything similar?

  9. Just to update, I bought a stock exhaust on eBay and got it fitted for £60. I miss some of the noise but I haven't had a headache for weeks! :) Thanks for the help. And if anyone want to buy a 2nd hand Powerflow exaust - let me know! Actually, is there a dedicated page in this forum for buying/selling parts?
  10. This morning my drivers door failed to unlock from the fob - the passenger and boot opened fine and i can hear clicks from the drivers door - plus what i think is an extra click. The door wont open from the inside handle or the unlock switch. Stragnely the key doenst go into the lock - not sure if this a symptonm of a broken lock or something else (i've only had the car since January and I havent used the key to unlock the door before). Engine starts and it drove fine this morning without any issues. Can anyone recommend where to start? whilst i appreciate in advance any help offered, i'm a bit of a newbie when it comes to cars so if i could ask pelple to keep the descriptions as basic as possible please!
  11. Thanks for the replies so far. James - I checked the euro car parts, their prices are certainly better. I'll get in touch with Dunston and check back Kev - Just to explain when i bought the car it had a powerflow exhast already on it. I took it to powerflow as there is too much droning in the cabin between 2-3k revs. They said there wasnt enough space underneatth to fit additional pipework to disrupt the resonance problem and suggested replacing the mid section with a stock box. I dont want the car to be any louder :)

  13. Thanks James, Might be showing my ignorance here - I have been looking but I assume because the v6 has twin cat I need the standard v6 exhaust mid box? ebay doenst seem to be that specific but i'll keep looking.
  14. Hi everyone, first ever post on this site. I bought a 2004 A3 quattro sport 3.2 v6 a month ago. It came with a powerflow exaust which sounds awesome on hard acceleration but between 2 and 3k revs produces god awful droning in the cabin which ive decided I cant live with. The local powerflow garage has said there isnt enough space underneath for anti-resonance pipe-work and suggested that I replace the mid box with an original. Anyone got any experience of this? Can anyone recomend who where to get an original mid section exhaiust for athe v6? Thanks in advance
