  1. Hi guys new to the forum. Had many VAG cars in the past VW and SEAT but new to Audi Range. Just got new Audi A4 Ultra 2.0 TDI stronic box. wanted to stretch for the SLINE but wife was having none as I have bought enough Toys lately , Hey HO :-( so Im thinking of getting some light tints on it, do sline or S4 and the links come with a factory tint? would you go rear doors and rear screen or full tint and how dark. dont want it to look too chavvy though. also anyone had any dealing or know if these tuning boxes are any good as it needs to go back to stock when i send it back? https://tdi-tuning.com/car/audi/a4/20-tdi-ultra-161-bhp-163-ps-120-kw-400-nm-295-lbft/crtd4-twin-channel-diesel-tuning-box-chip i know dedicated mapping to the car is best and tuning boxes back in the day proved awful but surely designs and tech have gotten better? or am I wrong your thoughts guys cheers D.
  2. Revo does a "extra box" that allowes to switch on/off mapping
  3. ha ha would love to but i need a way of mapping easily so i can return to stock easily (hence box question). used to own a modded mapped SEAT Leon went like stink, never ever told her about remap .I remember her saying your car seems to have gotten faster
  4. Hi all Just thought I would let you know my 2011 A3 2.0TDI is going in for a stage 1 remap and to have the EGR switched off at the same time. I have been looking around for a long time and finally found someone close to me. I initially arranged a visit to have a chat and understand his process. I was also able to check out his facebook and checkatrade with a feedback of 9.99/10. So I was generally happy with his workmanship. The process is to take a copy of the existing standard map and send it off for re-mapping, this is the done returned and then loaded back into the ECU. If this does not work for some reason then he is able to re-load a copy of the standard map taken at the start. The car is then test driven and when he is happy he will hand it back to me, he also offers DPF removal, but not sure how that one will effect the MOT? This is done for the princely sum of 199 of my fine English pounds. (special august deal). I will let you know how the car has improved next weekend when the car has been returned. Graham
  5. Hi new to the group, I have a 2007 SE ,I recently bought a update disk from a internet seller with 2016/17 mapping. As I'm sure you all know the disk player in the spare wheel compartment won't open. Is it locked by the cars system. Very sorry if this has been asked many times before, What do I do, visit a specialist or home fix? Thank you Martin
  6. Thanks for the feedback guys. I'm also wondering now if it's because I'm used to a manual and I'm sensing a combination of the following effects Turbo lag the S Tronic wrongly predicting what gear I'll be needing next (some suggest letting the car start to creep forward before accelerating) economic mapping choosing the highest gear (althoughSport mode didn't seem to affect it, as I recall) I'll let you know if I resolve this worry.
  7. going to have a look at a SEAT Toledo 1.2 petrol I think. £10k and nearly new. the A5 was awesome and ive been wanting one for over a year, but I just cant bring myself to buy a car that will probably need mapping and the dpf knocking out. knowing my luck the GOV would then bring in a law requiring the dpf is checked for function.
  8. Hi. Im wondering if I can retrofit a paddle shift steering wheel to my Audi A4 b7 cvt multitronic. I'm hoping to do more mods Toit and this seems like a proper cool thing to do. I want my cvt box mapping too if anyone knows where...? in leeds. Thanks in advance. philip
  9. no idea about the retro fit but the place where i got my a4 remapped do auto box mapping. they are in notts though.
  10. The best option would to be to not have it done. But yeah you can have it "un done" by a remap, but you shouldn't have to. Dan, the reason these mapping companies won't comment on the MOT side of things is that, as yet, there is no steer on how they could test. There is no universal way to check via ODB so the only really option is a particulate counter, I don't believe they currently exist in an affordable way for all MOT stations to be mandated to use them. I truly believe in emissions controls, however they should not be to the detriment of the end users wallet, DPFs are useless and costly for the owner (both in repairs and the increased MPG), EGRs generally only activate when idling so other than taxis where's the benefit? most modern cars have stop start anyway. Oh and they are massively prone to failure AND the sole cause of the entire inlet side coking up impacting on performance, reliability and economy.
  11. I think Tim maybe talking about performance mapping opposed to sat nav
  12. Don't have much planned beyond a tweek to the ECI mapping and smoked windows. Ive seen a few mods to the MMI and SatNav updates but I don't know much on these topics. I will be dong a lot of driving in this with work so hoping to source a cheap (free) sat nav upgrade lol.
  13. Hi David....welcome to the Forum The engine may be physically the same and the extra power is achieved through Electronic Control Unit mapping to squeeze out some more power. Another check to determine a little more about the vehicle is to use the DVLA Vehicle Enquiry online service which may shed some more light on it. Cheers Trevor
  14. Cheers Magnet, that sounds like good advice. I'll get in about looking into it this week. I think your right about dealer pads. Have found a VAG parts dealer so I shall be getting some work done on it if the weathers ok! Had it out and about and compared to my most days C4, the Audi feels like it's on rails going around tight curves. I bet re- mapping these would be fun although I wouldn't try it on this one with so many miles on. I've been noticing all the Audis on the road now I've got one. ! I think I'm hooked.
  15. Have you tried searching for Audi uhv on your phone? Regarding mapping I can't help with that. Led rear lights have you looked at a company called depo. Front lights are they projectors? If so you could fit an HID kit but don't buy a canbus kit go for a non canbus and get them coded via vcds.

Hi Guys first post. I have recently bought an Audi a6 c6 BRE 2.0 tdi, 140bhp manual box. from a friend and it was serviced by his local guy, whom I don’t know it has 92 k on the clock, anyways due for another service soon I was considering a deep service , i.e. glow plugs, brake pads for rear and all oils and possibly brake fluids etc. so need a little help I’ve looked at pads my model has the electronic handbrake but cannot find exactly which parts I need and any advice on which pads to get brembo is my choice but I’m sure some of you know better. Also glow plugs any ideas which ones are best and when if at all it’s worth doing as once again so many to choose from, the cam belt was done at around 45k but was looking at this also Gates is what I use but once again I’m open to ideas. Gearbox oils? Change or not have read many different opinions on this. Any good tips or info would be appreciated for dos and don’ts. Also is mapping as good as some say I drive normaly not intrested in speed get that at work so would a re-map help MPG and any info on this would be great. I’m planning on keeping the car for many years so want to keep in tip top condition. Thanks guys.
  17. Cheers will need mapping in future. Any ideas where to get a pump ?
  18. Well I am glad the 2014 system has no problem. It remains that the system installed in my 2011 car can only take the first 4 digits of a post code, which is inadequate and I doubt that an update in the mapping will cure that. For me the crucial thing is that I cant enter lat and long, in any format, which should be a basic function. If you travel on the continent a lot, you find that many hotels, whose street addresses are mainly for the postman, show their exact coordinates on their websites, on Booking.com and Trip Advisor. I guess this is why I use the big fancy inbuilt screen and system for showing me what is on the music player, and a TomTom Go 50 for navigation.
  19. I'm also looking at mapping it but I probably won't touch it until its outside of its 3 year manufactures warranty. Plus the wife's having it because I'm having a company car so its plenty quick enough for her driving skills haha
  20. I would say re-mapping is better as the actual map is changed and there are no physical modifications to the car. Chipping is where the 'chip' is physically added to the car in line to change the parameters that way so I would re-mapping is the proper and more professional way of doing it (providing you use a quality map from a reputable company of course!)
  21. Currently own a Mitsubishi Colt CZT 1.5 Turbo, running FMIC, K&N cone, all forge turbo hoses, Forge RS Valve, restrictor pill out and full decat exhaust but only at 188bhp WITH A REMAP! Most of my CZT pals are running 220bhp on the same mods and a remap, but the mapping company are blaming my exhaust because it's 2". Yeah it can be restrictive but I wouldn't of thought it would shave off 30bhp? 10 the maximum? However they fixed my boost leaks and surge, all running nice but not satisfied with the effort to nothing. I've been a fan of Audis, my brother previously owning a 1.6 A3 then moving on to a TT 225. I'm a big fan of the S3 and I can insure one cheaply at my age and with NCB so I think it's my next move in a few months. What are the high mileage S3s like? Unreliable or good? They sound awesome and parts are easier to get unlike the Colt I have! Plus they're 4WD! But hello from me!
