  1. Past hour
  2. It’s Thursday tomorrow Mark. Any further thoughts on your Carbon clean?
  3. perfect thanks, I've jacked her back up and found a slightly loose starter earth but surely that wouldn't be it. i will disconnect the alternator plug and check the draw. ill keep you updated. i will have closer look at the multi meter to get the amps in the correct power. seen as i've only fiddled with the starter i assumed it would be that but alternator could be a shout.ill update tomorrow once ive had a fiddle about.
  4. Thanks for the info about the Alternator problems and Audi's initial reluctance to cover it. It would seem in Europe then manufacturers just ride roughshod over customers problems with their manufacturing/design faults, but seem to listen to these Class Action Suits that the Americans pull to sort things out. This is something I can grill the salesman on or just approach the Service Manager and talk technical, though it seems not all are technically qualified to a level to understand the workings of the cars their mechanics (hardly techicians) work on. It was a poor show that the salesman could not furnish me with a colour brochure listing all the A3 models, differences and technical specifications, their website or any other car manufacturers website just doesn't cut it. He quoted me £31k for the S, would that be on the road, as that is what I asked for. I don't do HP or lease, I have more sense. Normally keep the car 10 -14 years any way. As soon as they went to common rail fuel systems on diesels couple with a dpf, plus all the sensors thats when they started getting problems with engines. Common rail fuel systems on diesel engines is about 110 years old, so nothing new. It wasn't Rudolph that designed the Compression Ignition Engine, but a pupil of Newbury Grammar School who came from the High Wycombe area. He had the true CI engine to market made by Rustons of Lincoln before Rudolph was able to sort himself out, in fact Rudolph stole the idea and patented it. The term F*a*g paper is a colloquial term for a fine clearance used by Engineers world wide, nothing to do with the LGBTVD&scar brigade. Perhaps the Woke filter should have a bypass fitted. Is there anyway that one can edit a post later as my eyesight sometimes lets me down when tapping out the letters with the stylus and I don't see the typos until later? The system asks for a Username which can be anything that can be used in mixed company, Mareng is my user name as it reflects my background. Never had a problem with usernames in the past 25 years.
  5. A6 Avant Black Edition 40 TDi Daytona Pearl // Tech Pack Pro // Valcona Leather // Extended Leather / Luggage Pack // 21” Upgraded Alloys 4 months in 😍
  6. Now has full MOT with only advisories on brake wear
  7. Today
  8. Could this be a fueling issue?
  9. You're welcome. It should be there as my A6 is of a similar age and design. Definitely not!
  10. Hello Marc, As Cliff says. That indeed was my motive for asking what brand the new thermostat was. In quite recent times I regret to say the reliability of new-out-of-box components has become very, very questionable, and not helped by the increasing use of the term OE which might encourage buyer confidence. Again, the use of once trusted brand names - now owned by licensing companies - adds kudos to products no longer manufactured to anything like the quality of the original brand. Dad/granddad then says ‘that’s a quality brand’ and it aids sales. So don’t take for granted that once respected brand name components will be serviceable, simply because they are new. Thermostats are a key component, and are sometimes difficult to access, so for me, it’s the exception to the rule, and I spend a bit more on one bought at the main dealer. Regards, Gareth.
  11. Is it noisy? There's cases of humming or ticking noises from the pump:
  12. Very nice. Think I've been past it.
  13. Thanks Naresh, I would suggest restricted use and very frequent level checking when you do have to use it. Don’t depend on the ‘low coolant ‘ message popping up to remind you to do that. Regards, Gareth.
  14. Any particular reason why your Sign On has now changed to Guest, Paul?
  15. Many thanks Gregg. Now understandable in knowledge of stale fuel. I would suggest you only use E5, and add a fair slosh of Redex to every gallon. Well worth treating it to an oil and filter change using respected branded filters and oil. Kind regards, Gareth.
  16. You're welcome 🙂 Yes. I believe a crank sensor can.
  17. Yesterday
  18. Still shows as two broken play symbols on mine so just did two screen shots to show what it looked like.
  19. I assume the large wheels will have very low profile tyres, an arrangement that is known to produce a much harsher ride than normal, so it's reasonable to believe that is what has knocked out springs and bearings. Not sure about the drive shafts.
  20. Hello all Sorry to ask but my head is spinning with so many different answers regarding which GB oil is the correct 😓 I have a 2017 A6 C7 2.0 Tdi Ultra, DDDA engine with a manual RYS gearbox...I need some help finding the right spec oil please 🙏🙏🙏🙏 Thank you all and sorry for the trouble. Regards
  21. Offers welcome on these. Need them gone to buy something else. 😁
  22. And back
  23. I'd get this into a garage asap. Let's hope it's a chain and not the crankshaft etc.
  24. This link might help with the sloshing https://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php/624964-Water-sound-behind-dash
