I also bought mine from a main dealer, as I wasn't sure if I could trust a chinese copy (can save save £80 if it works, but could potentially lose £3k+ if it failed). By the sounds of most people's experiences, the generic parts seem to be ok
-
Bought mine from main dealer after reading some people having issues with generic parts. Was expensive (100 plus) but worked first time. Did run vcds and erased any errors, so don't know if thats the reason it's been ok from then on.

You'll need a diagnostic check to see if any fault codes flag up. It's probably the roof clamps that has failed. Problem if you can't get into the boot as you could manually control the boot from there.

I know how this feels. Still need an engine for my A6. All the second hand ones don't come with service history or unconfirmed mileage etc.
-
Get the part number and buy a second hand headlight to see if that cures the problem.
-
I got mine from Amazon 20£

@Jotenhiem Was it an Audi part or from autofactors? I got this one from auto doc so maybe the issue lies there.

Try this mate, I don't know if it's applicable to your model and year but it worked perfectly for me so it might be worth a try. 2003 A6 C5 key reprogramming (two key method) - Audi A6 (C5) Forum - Audi Owners Club (UK)

Keef started following B8.5 2.0TDI Quattro engine replacement/recondition
-
Seeking recommendation for a company to either repair/recondition or replace my Sportback 2.0TDi engine which has been fatally damaged by water ingestion going through water that was deeper than I thought! It runs (badly) but Cylinder 2 is reporting a fault. Swapping engine over, bare or complete may be easiest option but concerned about the quality of what I’ve seen for sale. Engine has only clocked 40k miles and car in great condition only engine damaged but insurance would probably write off. Any recommendations for reliable quality suppliers or reconditioners? Many thanks

I had the exact experience it started off with the message but it was was intermittent until the brakes started juddering. I joined the Audi club and seen the advice watched on you tube how to change the sensor and it worked no issues since

Augh1234567 started following Brake servo restricted
-
Any advice would be appreciated. Having the error message "break servo restricted intermittently" and stop start being disabled but not every time I drive the car. No issues with breaks juddering etc. Bought pressure sensor and replaced it but on doing so the message is back each time the car starts. Moved off car for a small drive and on breaking the breaks started juddering so put back in the old sensor and now message is gone again and breaks feel normal. Any ideas as to if it's actually the sensor or is it likely to be some other issue like electrics, servo pump or the plug itself?

BHar12 started following TPMS fault - Audi A1
-
Hi Val, I have the exact same issues, TPMS light on dash is on with messages on Auto Stop/Start failure, Stabilisation control ECS/ABS fault and Tyre pressure system fault. Was it the TPMS bulb on the dashboard that had fallen out or was it a sensor elsewhere? Appreciate the help, thanks

Optimus started following Audi Service plan or Independent Garage
-
Unless the service plan is through VWFS (Volkswagen financial Services) I wouldn’t bother. the T&Cs through this service plan scheme ensure any dealer network franchise coverage as well as additional leverage to resolving complaints or defects thereafter a service. having worked in the motortrade I have sold used car service plans; you often read genuine parts and this is not always the case and I have often seen inspections and oil changes being done in 20 minutes or less. The oil gets changed but the inspection in my opinion is not the same. Main dealer networks rely on high turn over of customers in and out the doors. They pay their workshop staff bonuses based on speed not quality. echoing what others have said id personally put money away and chose an independent specialist where your get main dealer experience and better value for money, in most cases.

The remote locking has stopped working on my A4 Convertible. The spare key has never worked since I've had the car and the main key just stopped working as few weeks ago, so I thought it's likely they just need re-pairing with the car. I was tossing up between buying VCDS or OBDeleven, and plumped for ODBeleven as it's significantly cheaper out of the box. Also, I don't have a laptop currently to warrant buying VCDS, so that'll have to come later. I've tried pairing one of the keys, but keep getting the (00) Function Not Available, message. At this stage I'm trying to clear the memory of all key location (OBDeleven tells you to input the number 5 to clear key locations) It's during this that I get the message. I've checked the interweb and that error message reckons that function is not available on that module, which can't be correct, so I must be doing something wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated Andy

The visual level on the dipstick is the one to rely on. The electronic level sensor sometimes goes awry and should be renewed.

In no way have you assisted… an appropriate answer from decent moderators or people seeking to advise would be.. "It appears your chain has slipped a tooth and may have caused severe damage. The repair may be very pricey so I would look at if the car is worth the time and money…hope it goes well" decent answer….. your answers were a joke. Your a pair of wet flannels who’s life is sitting on a forum everyday…😂 Laters ladies 👋

You may need check the wiring and the connectors for water ingress, not easy because it's tight. You could possibly get a picture of the inside by removing the road wheel, arch liner access and disconnecting the ignitor. Or remove the unit from the car to check it. I put it on water that's got in somehow and is bridging the contacts.

Joerty27 started following Oil change
-
Hi I have just changed the oil and filter on my 2017 A3 1.5 tfsi. I fill to the required level on the dip stick took it for a run and checked it again all good. I have then got a warning light for the oil level being too high. I have removed a small amount of oil to see a change on the dip stick which is still within the limits. I ran the car for 20 miles or so and the warning light has came back on for high oil level. Is this a senior problem and is there a easy fix. Cheers
