  2. Wasted words I am afraid, Richard. Neil has not returned to the forum since his message of 13th July.

  4. To be fair to Halfords, it’s a pretty niche question. RS4 exhaust tips are funnily enough stainless steel, but painted. Normal wear and tear, you are going to get pitting, tar spots, etc. Tar spots are easily removed with petrol on damp microfibre. Pitting and scratches, use a very fine wire wool, #0000 with warm water and mild detergent. All you are doing is prepping. Degrease with rubbing alcohol. Next stage is to mask off and use high temperature VHT primer, followed by matte black paint.
  5. Hi could be an auxiliary water pump they use these to circulate the water if the weather is hot after the engine is stopped it prevents cooking the cylinder head, by the looks of the coolant temp it was already hot when you started the car. Steve.

  7. Hello Neil, Would you be kind enough to return to the forum and provide the additional detail enquired about-? Regards, Gareth.
  8. I had the BSG replaced on my 2020 RS7, and after 2 days from taking it back from the delearship i scanned it just to see if any historic errors are present, and i saw the coolant pump error. Nothing came up on my dashboard, but i still took it back to Audi because i thought they left air in the cooling system. They had it refilled, and claimed they used the correct process, but today when I started the car the error came back. Still nothing on the dash. Has anybody had anything similar? I'm going back to Audi tomorrow.

Hello Bob, The forum is looking for some feedback from you, on the help you asked for. Thanks. Gareth.
  16. Vibration could be anything, wheel balance, bearing, brakes. Wheel balance is as good a place to start - relatively inexpensive. Bearings usually have constant drone from 40mph up and really bad ones will have a wobble. Brakes, then sticky caliper will force contact with disc. You can usually smell. Drive for 10-15 minutes and coast to a stop. Brakes may be warm, but definitely not hot. If all that checks out, the only other thing is suspension arms. You'll normally feel a clunk over uneven road surfaces. If car has auto lights - it may be ambient light sensor. VCDS might mick this up in a scan.
  17. Hi Nigel. I drive to Ireland several times a year and I always have to go in to the menu to change it over to kms. Hope that helps.

  19. The three-button reset didn't fix it. Looks like I'm doing more investigation. I tried a scan tool which sadly returned no errors... Thanks for your suggestions guys.. If I find anything else, I'll come back with that later.

  21. Hi guys and girls. Hope this is okay. Thought this was a New Zealand site when joining. I crashed my A6 c5 wide-body 2002 Audi. And before I send to wreckers seeing if anyone needs parts. I have owned it for 14 years now and spend bit of money making it stronger. Rebuild trans, abs system, cooling system, made from two cars. Regn on hold.

  24. Hi, my daughter has a A3 2.0tdi 109k miles and I just took it for a drive. There are a few strange things going on. Any pointers what to look at to fix. Vibration at 70mph.. I think this is wheel balance so will get them rebalanced Engine rattle at c2000rpm, light pressure on accelerator, noticeable in 3rd 4th 5th and 6th gear. Quite loud especially at 70mph on motorway cruising speed. Speeds and rev counter.. the brightness changes from very bright to very dark.. almost like the light level adjustment is changing itself. I've had a search but couldn't find much on the forum. All help much appreciated. Thanks Mark
  25. Hi get it scanned for faults, then come back and we can help.

  29. I can recommend this place, though you may feel it is too far from Esher. It's where I took my 2007 A3 during my ownership. https://msautoservices.com/
  30. My glow plug light comes on when driving I've looked in the manual and it comes under engine management. It now jutters on idle any ideas

  32. Hi Looking for a good local Audi Q7 specialist to take the car and fix various issues. 85,000 miles well looked after car only 2 owners. Was over £90,000 new high spec car so keen to keep it. Main one being grey intermittent smoke from RHS exhaust which regularly causes DPF filter blockage. Had injectors out and cleaned, didn't solve it. Been to several Audi specialist all saying different things. Turbo seals, EGR valves etc. No lack of performance at all, just sometimes after 4/5 mins it starts to smoke from one side and can smell burning diesel. Not loosing any oil and not oil smoke. Also needs MMI circuit board changed as Nav and Audio not working . Likely from water on centre consol Poss air suspension leak on LHS front Also requires 2 doors replaced from accident with a dear! Would prefer to find good honest Enginner to take and fix all issues. Thanks

  34. hello everyone im new here and i recently got a 2006 audi a3 8p 2.0tdi quattro at first it just had an idle issue so the revs on idle would just go up to 1k and after some time would go back to normal then when i push it past around 135km/h it would ussually put the car in limp mode and after a restart its bakc to normal but when i woke up today went outside started it everything seemes normal i started driving got up to fourth gear accelerated and started to hear a knock but only while accelerating its similair in fifth gear as well have any of you had any similair issues?

  36. Good find Adam. If that still doesn’t pop up afterwards, I’d be looking to remove the MMI from the dash for closer inspection so you can observe. If you have access to VCDS that would be worth scanning too.
  37. How To: Audi A3 8V 2017 Facelift MMI Reset Fingers crossed this one works for my model.
  38. You could be right.. however I don't hear the motor spinning or any noise when the screen should be raising/lowering. I would have expected a buzzing or spinning kind of noise during that time. If the gears are broken and then jammed with the broken parts, then potentially I wouldn't hear any noise either. If I can detach the two cable plugs, I might be able to take the motor out and see if the gears or broken though..
