TPMS
Hi I think your model may have the sensors in the rims, only way to find out which wheel is the wrong un is to get the car scanned. Steve.

Occasionally not able to access any radio channel
Cliff. Yep,its a shark fin. Just checked it and its firmly fixed in the roof line. Happened again today. From start up, couldn't get any signal or any radio station. Parked the car in Pompey for 30 mins, got back to car, started it up...and all radio stations available ! Bizarre !

Think that is probably the answer. I’ll try and find someone who can do the diagnostic electrical check. Got a few contacts so will try and find out 👍🏻

It's not the starter motor Rob. That much I am sure of so don't waste any money buying new parts until you have a confident diagnosis. If the battery is in good shape, and I am not convinced it is, you need an electronic diagnosis.

Occasionally not able to access any radio channel
Radio and GPS aerials used to be entirely separate items on different cables, but maybe technology has moved on since then. Is it a shark fin aerial on the roof? I have read they can become loose.

Hi Gareth, thanks for your response. The battery is an AGM and is around 2 years old. I’m 99% sure it was coded to the car. I’m thinking could it be the starter motor as that has never been changed, I’ve no real idea what the life span could be but it is 10years old. Any thoughts ? Also, thanks for your input, much appreciated 👍🏻

Audi New Model A5/S5 Avant Experience
Thank you for your great responses. I am still learning the car but have some time in it tomorrow (we are going away for the weekend) so I will try to check how the car responds in the various scenarios you have recorded and let you know.

Audi 80 B4 Avant Rear Left Light (Seima)
Hi everyone, I am looking for a red, left rear light for my 1993 80 B4 Avant. I would like to keep all the lights OEM and matching so ideally I am looking for a SEIMA brand light with SEIMA part number 29.63.01 or Audi part number 8A0945217B. If someone has a pair of Hella ones though, I will take both so I can match each side! Thanks everyone.

Hello Rob, Apologies for highjacking this thread, but how long have you owned the car, has the battery been replaced during your ownership, and do you have any service history evidence that it has been renewed in the car’s lifetime? If it turns out that the battery is the original, then I would simply renew it anyway. Re. non working stop/start. Clap your hands, since this is the most engineeringly averse system devised during the history of motoring. As Cliff points out, a new battery will need to be coded to the car. Regards, Gareth.

I would not trust any work done by the clowns at Halfords which is why I suggested a professional test, but if you choose to believe them the next step is to take the car to a garage, either Audi main dealer or specialist independent, and have it diagnosed on a code reader.

Hi Cliff, had a battery check and all is good. Was done at Halfords and they didn’t know any other solutions. I’ll keep looking. 👍🏻

Hello Luke, As you say - not a good start - so you don’t know how long he has owned it - if he did have any claim to its ownership. Can we take it you have now received a ‘clean’ V5 in your name? I would treat the 3 month ago service as if it never existed, and as a minimum, I would run an on-line VCheck on the car (cost £9.99) to see what else you don’t know about it, before spending anything on it. Please come back to us when you have more details, and I’m sure we can advise on future servicing. Regards, Gareth. last service

Guy i brought off couldn't find logbook or spare key so not great start but says it was serviced about 3 months ago. Thats all the info on service I have but I always do my own services normally every 6 months ish Current mileage is 52k As first first audi and first petrol so all new to me. Thanks for replying

Go on LLL Parts website, and see what info comes up against your VIN. It might come up with accessories part numbers.

Welcome Luke. Can we take it you have a record of its previous service history, to know - as a base point - what has been done and what hasn’t -? Mileage? Will you be doing your own servicing and maintenance? Regards, Gareth.

Occasionally not able to access any radio channel
Hey Cliff Just looking at AI .....as you do now ! and it says there that it could be down to two things. Water ingress of the aerial ? I cannot think it's that as the car is only 3 months old and I do remember now that I had this happen on the day I picked it up on the drive back from Bury St.Edmunds to Hampshire. I thought it was me at the time being dopey with the MMI settings ! And it also went on to say that if the fault was the aerial, I would have trouble too with the SatNav as the GPS and the radio use the same antenna....and SatNav works fine. I get the feeling it might be software ......surprise surprise !!!! Cheers. Will come back

Alloys
Hi Rob, There are some really helpful sites on the internet that can steer you through the minefield of offsets, wheel widths, tyre sizes and profiles www.willtheyfit.com and www.wheel-size.com to name just two, but there are others. They are relatively straightforward and you are asked to specify your current set up and then you can input your favoured sizes and the site will quickly tell you how your favoured sizes will fit and importantly sit on the vehicle. You can input as many size options as we want and as many times as you want, I was over a 12 months trying to find alloys and tyres to fit my S7 and eventually with the help of aforementioned sites I eventually found a set of wheels I liked and that would fit. No spacers, just extra length wheel bolts (from H&S) to accommodate the different offset. The other thing to bear in mind, but on an A6 (not an S6) I think you should be ok, is the physical size of the front brake callipers. For me this was an additional problem. Anyway like you, I wanted alloys that filled my arches, that didn't stick out and didn't look ridiculous. I hope I achieved it, but its very subjective!!! Hope this is helpful & best of luck
