  2. Just to keep you updated. Car still with Lookers Teesside, Audi UK asked them to replace the 12v battery and give it a run and run another diagnostic check. The ran the car for 25 miles with no issues and the diagnostic checks came back clear. The dealer has agreed to keep the car and do some further tests as I'm not convinced that the alternator / generator is working. Does anyone have any idea how many miles you would have to travel on a full battery before it was fully discharged if the alternator / generator was not charging the battery.

  4. A properly maintained car, even one that is twenty years old, should not judder or overheat so it is clearly defective. Take it back to the dealer.
  5. I never use the footrest, and it only serves to catch my shoe to prevent me from operating the clutch pedal. Before I remove it for ever, I wondered if anyone knew if there is carpet underneath the footrest?
  6. I can just about hear the noise in the last three seconds of the audio, but it is so overwhelmed by engine noise that I have no chance of identifying it.

Not 100% sure they did in garage & was quickly set up. The Audi app works fine when I get in vehicle. Just checked I am set up via bluetooth
  8. Hi I’ve just fitted a new grill but had the ugly foam behind it has anyone done the same if so did you keep the foam ? Or can it be removed ? Thanks
  9. Hello Steve, There are normally two metal clips fairly near the top of the cover ‘plate’, and these clip over metal pieces on the seat back. Glue has been some bodge for broken clips etc. Regards, Gareth.
  10. Hi mate I’ve done the same but what did you do with the foam insert that’s shows behind the grill thanks
  11. Hello Geraint, You are suffering from post-purchase blues - quite a normal reaction. Regrettably, in your situation, I think your concerns are valid. Did you check the on-line MOT history of the car before you even went to look at, or particularly before committing to buy it? Checking it now, probably explains the reasons for its juddering - severely worn CV joint boot, rough wheel bearing, welded wheel/s, brakes imbalance, worn suspension pins, tyre worn below limit - I could go on. I notice the car passed its latest MOT, now advisory-free a week or so ago, and my guess is you bought it from a dealer who arranged a new MOT before sale. Geraint:- PLEASE DO NOT DRIVE THIS CAR AT SPEED AND WITH ENTHUSIASM UNTIL IT HAS BEEN PROPERLY ASSESSED. ( apologies for caps.) This car has used some printer ink in its MOT history! Way forward:- if you bought it from a dealer then e-mail them ( you need a written record) and explain its juddering at speed , and it appears to be overheating, and you intend to book it in with an MOT station of your choice to check the car out. If you bought it privately, let us know the wording of the advert. Regards, Gareth.
  12. Hi, Has anyone experienced the rear cover of their seat falling off? It appears to be simply glued on, surely this can't be right! Thank you.
  13. I'll try and upload to YouTube at some point but can't figure out how on my phone! Hard to describe it - it's like a whipping or clicking noise at all speeds, more noticeable at slower speeds. Doesn't create a droning noise at 40-50 so maybe not bearings. Have tried uploading here again as well. Thanks! 20250509_173656_1.mp4
  14. Looks a lovely cabrio. Glad you tracked down why brand they are.
  15. The screens do fail and you can get replacements. Did you buy it from a dealer? If it's overheating you need to get it into a garage for proper diagnosis.
  16. No video upload. Your best bet is to upload to YouTube and link from there. Rotational sounds could be anything, stone stuck between brake shield and rotor, sticky brake piston, wheel bearing (tends to give dull drones at 40-50mph). Also flat spots on tyres.
  17. Always wanted one now feel like I made a mistake or rushed into it

  19. Hi people I just bought a 1.8T 180 last night test drive fine on B roads nothing where I could really open it up but on the way home on the motorway it judders when at high end acceleration and this morning hard driving caused it to over heat but when I took cap off it cool down and not seen issue since but also not drove it hard. Have a bought a piece of crap or am I over thinking it. Also couldn’t see faults due to dash being pixelated and not working properly but sure there was an error saying coolant issue Please help Thanks Geraint
  20. Thanks yeah I follow vag technic on YouTube they know their stuff just wasn’t sure if there was anyone closer , I don’t mind a drive to somewhere good tho
  21. To be honest this is specialist territory, there’s Decimal Tenths which is close to you, or drive to VAG Technic in Dudley.
  22. Welcome to the forum you'll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch. Check service history for proof of cambelt and water pump changes and gearbox services. Make sure ac works as compressors can be expensive. Make sure the heater works consistently between all vents and heat is the same. If not it could be an issue with the heater matrix. Issues with dpf, egr are well documented. Check YouTube videos for buyers guides
  23. Hi people I’m looking for a recommendation for a specialist for diagnostic and repair on my 2016 rs6 in the north east / North Yorkshire area ideally, it’s causing mayor headaches and most google searches bring up people down south if anyone can point me in the right direction it will be appreciated Thanks Chris
  24. Thanks! I bought the car and went directly to the very north of Sweden in the beginning of February and it was cold 🥶 as hell like -25 Celsius so one theory I have is that the discs weren’t worn in and got overheated and warped if I braked to hard. but I will try your advice first then and secondly change discs. Bosch discs are about 45€ each at AUTODOC so not too expensive.
  25. Hi all. I'm a long term VW owner and had quite a few different models over the years, currently running a b7 passat. I am looking at purchasing my first Audi. I'm looking at A6 Avant's. 2016-2018 models. I'm after a 2.0l auto black edition and have a few to look at this weekend. Does anyone have any advice on what to look out for. The last dsg box I drove was on our mk7 golf in 2014 but unfortunately this lasted a grand total of 6 weeks as the car got nicked and we went back to manuals. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi, have you connected your phone via Bluetooth?
  27. Hello Ian, Remove the auxiliary belt and see if the noise on cold starting disappears or not. Regards, Gareth.
  28. Someone did suggest that to me, but it's strange that the noise goes away after cold start. I was thinking oil starvation? But then the interval of the sound doesn't match up..
