Audi A3 (1.6 TDi 2011) - Front and Rear Aftermarket Speakers

Featured Replies

Hi all,

First off, I'm VERY new to all this!

Right, so I bought my first car about a year ago. A 2011 A3 8P (5 door sportback).. I'm still new to all this car stuff!

Basically, my front speakers are crap and my back speakers are just not there? Taken the grill off, and it's empty. I've bought 4x new 6.5" speakers that I want to fit in myself (to replace the front door speakers and fit in new speakers for the rear doors).

For the front, I should be okay. However, for the rear speakers..(I haven't yet removed the rear door card so may be unsure on some things) - I'm certain there are no existing stock speakers in the rear doors. So does this mean that there is no wiring for the rear door speakers? If so, how would I go about wiring it? If there is wiring, what would i need to connect my speakers into the door card? As for the front ones I will use the existing plug from the original speakers and just fit it into the new front speakers but for the back I'm clueless and really unsure.

Any advice will be useful so please help me!!!

Thanks in advance,

Larry

Welcome to the forum Larry, you'll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch :)

The front speakers should be straightforward, however I would have thought there would have been rear speakers in the doors? Have you got any pictures of the door cards for us to look at?

It also might be worth you picking up a Haynes manual for the 8p off ebay.

Cheers

Hi Steve,

Thanks for your reply. :-)

Here’s a few pics of the rear door/card. What do you reckon? There’s no speaker there but there is a hole(foam covered) for the speaker to sit in I guess with the speaker’s screw holes in the door...

Also, with regards to the Haynes manual - I’ll have a look into getting that. Would it be useful in helping me fit in the rear speaker? Not too sure what it is tbh!

Thanks for your help.

Larry.

What's strange is that it does look like you.havenrrar speakers? Every 8p 5 door I've seen before does. Is the circular part definitely not a speaker. If it is my thinking is that the previous owner has changed the settings so that the rear speakers don't work.

If you haven't got speakers then you'll have to see if the wiring is behind the circular cover.

Yeah I'm really confused with this! Definitely no speakers there. That circular thing's a thin sheet of foam/polystyrene. I couldn't see any obvious wiring behind the foam when I peeled it slightly to look behind. Why would the previous owner do so? wow! Or could it be because this is a basic model? What are my options now?
