So looks like the previous owner, or garage who sold it has changed something on the MMI etc with a 2nd hand unit - if a dealer, ask them to sort it, if a private sale, I suppose your only hope is an Audi dealer as a first port of call. 

Get a vcds scan with will tell you what module is under component protection. Once you know its either audi or someone who can remove it. It can be costly .

Component protection is to protect modules or units like cd changer etc from theft and using it on another audi...

Sorted the dealer got it fixed for me,  now I have a working radio 🙂 thanks guys
