Headlight Dismantle? Motor replacement?

Featured Replies

Anyone tried to dismantle (and put back together) the headlight unit. I've seen videos on youtube but they seem to destroy the headlight.

The motors in my headlights may need replacing in the near future.

I've been told it's a sealed unit but the motors are available to buy so I'm thinking its doable.

Thanks

Hi. The a6 c6 headlights are a pain :). Normaly you can put a headlight in the oven or use heat gun to open but the sealant audi used is so stront it will melt the plastic first haha. Most companies either try to remove internal bits via the hole on the back or cut open and glue back

Thanks for the reply. I keep getting the adaptive warning light, take the headlight out, fix a broken wire, put back. Its ok for a while then repeat. All the wires seem perished and brittle (I suppose that's what 275K does to a car).

I love the car but these headlights will be the death of me. I really don't want to shell out for two new ones. I've been quoted £1800.

What is the full part no on the headlights ?

Ebay would be your best call to keep checking.

Also when the fault comes back get the car to audi for vcds scan and find out what exactly the fault code is
