3rd brake light woe...

Featured Replies

Hi all,

have a centre brake light warning light on the dash. VCDS says code 01503- bulb for centre brake light open or short to plus... yet the thing is working... I’ve checked the connectors, did the resoldering thing on the pins, and finally resorted to a new LED unit.... and still it’s not cured...

would appreciate any advice on where to look to fix this?

1) Is your 3rd light working when the error is present?

  • Author

It is yes.  100%!  With both the original and the replacement led lamp unit... thinking it’s got to be something to do with the lamp fault detection...

Hello Andy,

Not absolutely sure, but the fault alert may be triggered by either an open circuit (lamp does not light) or a higher than expected resistance. Although the lamps work, it would be worth checking the cleanliness of all connections associated with these lamps. Contact cleaner would be useful.

Kind regards,

Gareth.
