Rear windscreen wiper

Have an A4 Avant 20.TDI. The rear windscreen wiper works, but when operated the final resting position is vertical not horizontal. Any help would be appreciated.

I had the same problem a couple of years ago and it turned out to be a failing wiper motor. Mine wouldn't always work though and on occasions I would have to wiggle it to get it started.
