4L Engine Noise 2007 3.0 V6 TDi

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I have a strange whining noise coming from the engine bay.

-Noise isnt present until engine is warm

-Noise isnt present in neutral

-Noise is only present on acceleration

-Noise is only present between 1750-2200RPM

The noise also doesnt occur during every acceleration.

Performance doesnt appear to be hindered.

The noise appears to be coming from the left hand side of the engine bay (if you are sat in the car)

I have so far taken apart and reassembled the entire intercooler piping, inspecting for cracks / holes and have found nothing

I'm running out of ideas as to what to look for next.  Possibly EGR?  I dont think the turbo has gone, as she still pulls well.

I will attempt to get a recording of the sound if I can.

Did you find out what the issue was? I'm having a similar issue.

No effect on driving of the vehicle, sounds likes something is spinning from the engine bay. With mine the sound goes once the clutch is depressed, comes back as soon as released. Noise is gradually getting worse.
