Looking at an Audi A4 - Advice Appreciated

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Im new here, im from Birmingham, currently driving Vauxhall's and a a Merc.

Basically, my dad is looking to upgrade his Merc and is considering an A4. Never had one before so just want to do some research first.

We're currently looking at a 2014 A4 2.0 TDI Technik Multitronic, the 148bhp version. Main reason is for ULEZ compliance and this falls into the compliant vehicle. Not hell bent on buying this particlar one as its the first one we have seen, but if its good enough would seriosuly consider it. The one we have seen has around 50k on it, but very little in the way of service history records. Are these a Service Book or are they all recorded online?

So just really want some advice on what is good, whats bad, what to look out for on these?

Is the Technik a bottom of the range? How the model variants work?

Are these cambelt or chain?
Whats the main problems that these have and what should I be looking out for?
Are there independants to take these for a service or is it Main Dealer only?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
