Help appreciated!! 1.6 mpi or 1.4 tfsi??

Featured Replies

Any help would be very much appreciated.

i have a budget of £6000 and I’m looking to buy an Audi A3. I would like it to be less than 80,000 on the clock.

there are lots and lots of the 1.6mpi’s out there so lots to chose from. There aren’t so many of the 1.4tfsi’s for this price and mileage.

do I hold out for the tfsi or is the mpi still a really good car?

any issues with either to look out for at this sort of mileage as this is top of my budget and don’t want to buy a money pit.

any help would be very much appreciated!!

thanks!

I purchased a low mileage 2010 1.4 tfsi recently, and am very happy with it. My understanding is that the 1.4 turbo is widely considered to be preferable to the 1.6, as it is a better performer. One issue to be aware of, depending on the model year, is that some of these engines suffered from excessive oil consumption. If you do some searches you can find plenty of related material.

Good luck!
