Multitronic - Play in gearbox shaft causing wobble

I had a wobble that i suspected was the wheels so had all the tyres replaced and balanced. This didnt solve the issue so i brought it to a mechanic.

When the car was lifted we could see that there is a lot of play in the shaft that comes out of the gearbox towards the front of car.

The car wobbles and vibrates but the gear changes are smooth and it doesnt show any error codes.

How big a job is this too fix?
