Mechatronics failure common or just bad luck

Hey all,

Just had my wifes Q5 into audi for a gearbox malfunction message, turns out to be a mechatronics failure. 

Car is a 09 plate with only 44k on the clock with a full service history, thankfully the extended warranty I bought is picking up the tab just wondered if anyone else has suffered a failure with such low miles.
